Hello all, I will be building my pc in the coming months with a i5 2500k. Will be used for gaming and web browsing. Each board is within budget, but I would like to know the main differences and whether the Pro is worth the extra £30?

Many thanks,

Craig

Have you checked the differences? think off the top of my head its USB 3 support, so the theory is that the pro is more future proof.
Also maybe less ports on the v against the v pro.
Whichever one you get you will need to upgrade the bios probably, on its 4th release since may!

Tony:)

Pro has following extras over V ie firewire onboard connectors ,reset button, some extra onboard sata connectors and comes with extra USB 3.0 rear bracket, that's all really.

Note: I think the LE/LX editions of the -v have a lower phase count compared to the -v/pro

Looks like the maximus gene-Z is a much better choice but just lacking 2x sata 6gb/s and the vga outputs.

I think Asus P8Z68-V is best value and choice for what you get,Pro version is worth considering if you need the extra stuff it has, personally V (non-Pro version) has everything I need...so both V and V Pro are the top 2 choices IMHO.
