As title - looking for a Sandybridge 1155 motherboard less than £100 for an i5-2300.

I do like bells and whistles :) - and I'm planning on probably upgrading to a i5-2500k at some point as I do like a bit of overclocking. Current system in signature.

Will be used with the following hardware:

  • AMD Radeon 5850
  • Intel X25-M 80GB SSD
  • OCZ 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 Platinum PC3-12800
  • Prolimatech Megahalems Cooler
  • 2 x 250GB SATA 2 HDDs

Cheers

Cheers stulid - I do like the Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3.

What is the Asus equivalent of the Gigabyte board? - there doesn't seem to be anything at the same price range with equivalent features - a gap in the market !

Also what are your thoughts on the GA-Z68XP-UD3 vs the Asus P67 Sabertooth?

why get an i5 2300 if you are going to upgrade to a 2500k anyway? surely it would make sense to just buy the 2500k right away?

Or do you already own an i5 2300?

Because I got the i5-2300 for half the price of an i5-2500k :) - do you have any recommendations on the motherboards we are discussing?

Your right about the lack of a competing ASUS product for the same price point.

The P67 Sabertooth is obviously missing the Z68 features, but a few reports suggest because of the plastic all board cover that gives it a distinctive look, the cooling isnt that great as air cant get to the parts underneath.

Cool I'm looking at:

  • MSI P67A-G45
  • MSI P67A-GD53
  • MSI Z68A-G45
  • Gigabyte P67A-UD4-B3
  • Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3
  • Gigabyte Z68X-UD3P

The Z68X-UD3P looks real nice but is starting to exceed the budget by about £15...

Not sure about the MSI - I've always thought of them as the budget brand but they do look good boards.
