They do, they just have so may orders that they have to start pre-processing them a few days beforehand. I'm guessing they do everything right up to giving you the dispatch notice, and then just put it in a big "Battlefield 3 - to be given to the postie on the 27th" pile.

Does anyone know what Play are like with pre-orders? Do they normally manage to get the game there on release day ?

Copies are set to arrive on Tuesday because there is a Day 1 update. DICE are perfectionists -- they will not stop polishing the game until it is in your hands. LOL, day 1 patches are pretty much a tradition with BF games, they make it sound like its something out of the ordinary.

You will be lucky if you get it within a week of the launch, I pre ordered supreme commander from them and it arrived 5 days after launch and then APB which hadnt even been posted the day after launch so i cancelled it and bought it on steam.
