Ok, guys my fav. car since school was always the Pug 106 I just loved it. To insure £3400 (lowest class insurance group too) - Because I am unemployed I pay near +£1k extra so don't do this. Get a 1-day job. and try adding parents.

To get all the dentts pulled and the door fixed and the stripes it came to about £600 at somewhere that's believed to be decent.

Anyway heres my ride.

* It needs dents all pulling out and sprayed
* it needs them side bumpers adding.
* I wanna replace the rims with alloys and bigger ones
* the right door for some reason drops when you open, problem since I got it, someone saw the gap and had a go trying to get the door open so it's even worse now. Inside it needs welding and even then the guy was unsure how long it'd last. I cannot use this door I get in through the passengers side or climb through the window(no joke)
* I wanna debadge the back pug 106

Apart from that, maybe upgrade the inside In-Car-Entertainment. and I was looking to replace the dash board with a fancy "plasma" one.

I did, but when I applied I was out of work. The umemployed adds £900 ish to your insurance. Without unemployment that I could have spent +£100 and got a 106 GTi.

You must live in a pretty bad postcode to get quotes that high. Bearing in mind that people have tried robbing your car already I would consider security over ICE.

Maybe a decent steering lock - like a Disklok steering lock. They aren't cheap but will deter the majority of thieves.

The reason the door sits slightly low sounds like it could be due to the hinges being knackered or in need of tightening to correct their alignment; im guessing that now someone has tried to break in they could be damaged and in need of replacement.

That car is ready for the scrap heap not ploughing thousands of pounds into it. Out of interest, how will you pay for this on a 1 day a week job?

Jesus 3k to insure 106 thats over 3 times what I pay on my Porsche. Nothing to do with your car but there is this little 106 gti that lives near me with some tool driving that tries to race me every time he sees me, each time I just cry a little bit inside for him.

You car though needs thousands of pounds of work to put right, almost every panel needs attention and unless you know a thing or two about bodywork it will cost a fortune. Your best bet on parts is to find one the same at a scrappy that has taken a hit from behind, steal the doors, bonet and trim then just bolt them on. For a few hundred quid you could put most of that right.

Wow this has no logic to it at all…………………..

Spending 1000’s (inc insurance) on an old regular run-of-the-mill tatty 106 does not compute. If this was a gti or rallye I could totally understand. Or even a Saxo vtr/vts

Heck it would still make more sense if this was a 205 gti.

and also what in the world is a "plasma" dash?

Make it look presentable by fitting a s/h passenger door, push the worst of the dent out of rear quarter and fit all the rubbing strips and sort out the hinge on the drivers side door.

Then simply use it and don't waste your money on alloys and ICE/shiny things when you could be saving it towards a newer car. Spending serious money on this car will be a complete waste, even a really tidy one isn't worth much.

atspeed in essex are very successful at custom turbo applications for these cars, definately worth contacting them as they have turned out some epic monsters.
