Agree fully with regards to Portal 2 snatching the GOTY award, however New Vegas winning it over The Witcher 2 is a bit of a 'What the? Who's been paid how much?' moment. Innovation of the year makes me chuckle a bit considering how poorly received by the public and supported by 3rd parties the 3DS has been (but then, the industry hasn't seen many other innovations worth mentioning this year so...).

So what are your thoughts on the subject?
 
Isn't it to early to do GOTY? Surely they should do it at the end of December where all of the holiday season games are released.

Black Ops Shooter of the year? You've got to be kidding me...

Dirt 3 is much better than Gran Turismo 5....

Didn't Guitar Hero go bust?

I would agree with it! Liked both games, but i thought NV was better.

I am glad Portal 2 is Ultimate GOTY as well:)

I am also glad that Assassin's Creed Brotherhood won something as i thought it was very good and better than 2.

Black Ops and Angry Birds Rio probably won because they are insanely popular rather than because they are good and I would probably have said Kinect for Innovation of the Year but I can agree with pretty much everything else.

And it is probably about time they dropped the music game category.

the only word to describe those two choices is fail. forza 4 > GT5 and [insert name of pretty much any shooter here] is better than black ops

Not really like it had much competition. Here's the games that were nominated :

FEAR 3, Brink, Crysis 2, Bulletstorm, Killzone 3, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Red Faction: Armageddon, Homefront, Medal of Honour, Singularity, Vanquish, GoldenEve 007, Dead Space 2

that's true, it's like prom queen is always going to go to the ditsy, shallow, stuckup girl purely because she's popular - in this case blackops :p
 
Downloadable game of the year? What does that mean? That's like saying best song of the year that can be played through headphones should you choose to.

Overall, I prefer Forza 3 to GT5 but there are times when I still choose to play GT5 instead. I'm surprised to see Portal 2 there even though it's GOTY for me.
