Im looking to replace my ageing HTC Hero with Froyo 2.1 .. while its a good phone its a bit slow at times and the GPS is busted..

So im looking at spending about £200 max on a new unlocked phone (although ill likely jailbreak it myself and install 2.3) So wanted to know peoples preference on the above to phones..

Samsung Galaxy Ace or Google Nexus S?

Not sure on the ace, but ive just got the nexus S and its fantastic, although its now super lcd, it looks stunning, and is really smooth, and being a direct google phone it should recieve android 4.0 soon.

if you do get one, dont buy a case for the i9020 as it wont fit :o

I got a new (Unused) Galaxy Ace from ebay for about £150, it updated to Android 2.3.3 once connected to a PC and it's fine. I find the battery pretty poor but I'll get a replacement for that soon.

Andi.

I have also noticed the Samsung Galaxy W (which has 2.3 already running and a 1.4ghz CPU) Plus available SIM free for £220.. So i've added this to the mix now :D

I would still take the Nexus S any day over the rest, get updates right away, it has NFC (i think) which could be the next big thing. Still keeping strong, doubt theres really any app/game that will slow it down.

It does have NFC but its mostly useless for now, unless ics allows us to use google wallet for card payments, at the moment its only for info.
