Ever checked your MOT History?

Never thought about this when buying so just checked mine. In the last 5 years it hasn't had a single advisory. One fail, due to a bust numberplate bulb and headlights aimed too high, and that's it.

Not bad for a 10 year old Ford!

This was a potentially terrifying moment when I checked up my Audi TT. It was suspiciously missing its last two MOT certificates, which I only noticed after getting it home. :o

Turns out it's been a very boring car, no advisories just the odd light out of position causing a fail. Still, I'm the owner now, things will get more interesting. ;)
 
Mot'd for the first time in June 2010 after being imported in 1998 and put in storage, failed for having no rear fog as it was imported pre SVA, retested the next week and passed, then retested again this year, nothing I wasn't expecting /phew :P

the tyre was just a little bit of dry rot. It was the spare had a flat a few days before the mot, no excuses it was pap

urm the breaks certainly didn't feel bad tbh. Anyway they were taken off cleaned up and passed

new wipers and a bit of welding later and yet another year or bargain motoring nearly done! el-heapo crap box has served its purpose
 
If I saw an advisory list that long first thing I would be thinking is either eBay spares/repairs or scrap yard!
 
well no.. but surely they would have put some advisory as the same things were picked up on before. then after the two years of no advisory.

there's no requirement at all to put any advisories. It's all down to what the tester can be bothered to put down.

For me there's 2 real reasons to put any advisories in,
1. There is something that will soon require replacing/repairing.
2. The tester/garage is trying to make as much money as possible and hope that if they put loads of advisories you'll get at least some of them done.

I've seen a few scary advisories from main dealers, and on things that didn't even come close to needing replacing.
