++any plumbers in here++ Bleeding radiators

Well I learned this much abut heating this week the pressure should be between 1 and 2.5

You'll prob find this gauge on the heating system itself

Depends on the system - mine should be at 0.5 to rise to around 1 when on.

Yep I also learned that since 1982 every boil will be fitted with a device that would revert the pressure should it get higher than 2.5 lol thanks overclockers folk but I can't remember the name of the device that does this prd?

If they still don't get hot then the valves could be sticking. Put each of the valves to full and then gently tap the side of the valve with a spanner. This should free the valve.

jumping in here a bit. currently at the gf's place and her mum is having a bit of a fight with the boiler and its winning.

the boiler in question is a vaillant eco tec 831. it seems to be a pressure problem i think. on the read out it says 2.8 bar. is this too high ? there is also another read out on the boiler with a needle which is resting just a bit over in the red scale. so does any one know how i would go about releasing this pressure ? have tried looking online but completely failing :/

on my mums on there is a little knob to twisel obviously under it and it always works a treat. this one is prooving to be a wee bit more troublesome.

any help appreciated :)

The pressure should never be anywhere near 2.5 bar, the pressure release valve will be set to blow at 3 bar most will be starting to leek around 2.5 bar.

The pressure when cold should be bettween 1 and 1.5 bar it should then increase by bettween 0.25 and 0.5 bar when the heating is in operation anymore than that and you almost certainly have an expansion vessel problem. (how many times do I need to repeat this?)

When you turned the lockshield valve, value with white cap, did you turn it back to the exact same spot it was before you changed it? If you didn't then you may have upset the balance of your other radiators which could result in some getting hotter than others.
