I want to play bf3.
I have 5770 1gb hd card.

Should I sell it and buy 6950 2gb

Or will crossfire 5770 1gb be better or as good?

whats advantages and disadvantages to both these options?

Also I can pick up used 5770 for prob 40-70 quid. 6950 around 200 quid.

but will my corsair 520w psu need upgraded if I do 5770 xfire?

Crossfire - not as good performance, more heat, more power consumption, some games don't scale very well.

Faster single card is best.

Not necessarily.

To the OP what resolution are you gaming at? How many monitors do you have?

i game on 1 monitor at 1920x1080.

side question:
I have a 24" monitor and 40" HDTV hooked to my pc sometimes I play games with image on both screens at the same time only as Im lazy to switch 1 off. Is this making my gfx card do extra work?

Playing BF3 at 1080P on crossfire 5770s will be tough, youl have to lower graphics settings to get 40fps.

Yes having your gfx card hooked up to two displays will make the card feed two displays which equals more work. If I was you get a 6950 2GB. Crossfire 5770s are too long in the tooth, my CF 5850s are just about holding up.

So when I play games I should switch one monitor off.

Also is it ok to just switch power off on the monitor or do I have to go to control panel and disable it?

set up a profile in Catalyst control centre for 1 screen and one for 2 screens and then just drop short cuts to the profiles on your desktop or set up hot keys for them.

Then its just a click to disable or enable them :)
