3 monitors - using onboard?

I have a Z68 motherboard with DP out. I also have 2 GTX 570's with DP out. I want to use 3 monitors which only have DP, but I only have one DP with each gfx card :(

Would it be possible to use the gfx cards for doing all the work when gaming, yet have the onboard used as an output fr one of the monitors?

Thanks

I wouldn't have thought you could play games on 3 monitors that way.

I think the following makes sense but if I'm wrong then feel free to correct me anyone.

If you use LucidLogix then that switches between the onboard GPU and the dedicated graphics cards so everything is directed through the motherboard outputs and you wouldn't be able to run the 3 monitors.

If you run the graphics cards in the "normal" way then only the outputs from the graphics cards benefit from the GPU power. You may still be able to use the DP output from the onboard GPU but it's not going to work with your graphics cards for 3 screen gaming.

If you want to just use the 3 monitors for desktop use then you may be able to use the graphics cards for 2 and the onboard GPU separately for the 3rd.

I've no personal experience of any of this so just my best guess.

As I said, feel free to offer any actual experience of trying this.

So lucidlogix definitely wont work? :(

That's the main thing i was counting on!

Is there any way to do it?

Like I said I'm only having an (educated?) guess.

My understanding of LucidLogix is that the output from the discrete GPU(s) is passed through to the integrated GPU's outputs on the motherboard and the outputs from the GPU(s) aren't used.

You need someone who has actually tried it but I would guess they're few and far between.

Most people gaming on 3 monitors are likely using AMD cards or SLI'd Nvidia cards and DVI outputs.

Unless somoen who has 3 monitors with DP and a Z68 mobo who'd be willing to make a quick change to their setup...

I've ordered a DP cable so I can try it, but I also need to send my current monitor back to OcUK
