Was raised a Muslim but decided I didn't really believe in god at all a few years back (parents love me for that). I don't have a problem with people believing in it, not my place to questions someone elses beliefs imo.

Well if you talking about Christianity, it's because he no longer interferes with are lives. That doesn't mean he doesnt care. And before you jump on the bandwagon. Remember I'm agnostic and think deitys are extremely unlikely to exist.

Actually, Christians care a great deal about humanitarian issues in Africa.

In fact IF God gives them the power to do that, bless them.

God gave authority over the Earth to us (humanity). It's not that God doesn't want to help, but it's up to us. He gave us the ability to live with him as our source and authority, or to live serving ourselves.

Never really understood how someone who was Atheist could change to whatever religion - it implies they've had something happen to change their mind, some new evidence etc.

I'm an atheist. I've never experienced anything in my life that has convinced me there is any kind of god. I don't question others about their beliefs, and have many good friends and family members who follow a religion to a greater or lesser extent.
