Hi all :)

sorry if Im spamming this section of the forums Im just a bit of a novice when it comes to oc'ing

now as stated in my previous post Im trying to get my cpu to 3.6ghz stable

I just wonder when running prime 95 are you supposed to just leave it running and do nothing else? It seemed to be running fine for over 4 hours, temps were fine ect and I started copying files and watching a movie at the same time and I got BSOD ... ealier I had started playing starcraft 2 and all was fine (game was stuttering but hey) ... so I wonder if I just left it it all would be ok?

I've had IBT fail after about 15 runs, so you should set it to at least 20 (Extreme setting) to be sure. You should also run P95 overnight. If it BSODs again post the code (use Bluescreen viewer or some similar app) and people will be able to suggest what might have caused it.

thanks, I can only run standard test on intel burn test it would seem as I only have windows 32bit I tried to run high and I got errors instantly, something about the ram.. I will prime overnight .

thanks for your reply

Prime is designed to use the CPU at 100% whatever else it's doing. You can run other things while prime is running and it will adjust itself to maintain 100% usage.

If you run anything else at the same time you're reducing the stress on the CPU. It's the task scheduler that keeps the CPU usage at 100% with prime, it has no control over itself in this respect.

thanks guys I have only only been coming on these forums a short time but I have learnt so much , I ran prime95 ovenight, over 8 hours and no errrors.. max temps 57c according to HWmonitor

Im happy with that

So my faithful old E6750 core 2 duo 2.66GHz is now at 3.6Ghz not bad at all

when I full load its at 1.4v Idle its at about 1.42v which isn't ideal but I set it higher in the bios to compensate for vdroop.. I think Ill drop it down a touch

anyway thanks again for the info guys .. most appreciated

plus my 8800GT up 55MHz (core) 137MHz (shader) and 30MHz (memory) stock voltage

next project is my new i5 2500k but its fine for now lol I'll overclock that when it needs it :)

IBT will stress the 2500K harder than anything else, just make sure you're getting over 92GFlops (at 3.6) otherwise it's not being stressed enough.

thanks for your reply mate , I should have pointed out I was overclocking my recently replaced pc not the one in my sig :) thanks anyway and when I come to oc the 2500k I'll take all info on board, Ill try n get that to 4.5ghz when I come to do it :)
