Hello, i currently have a Samsung LE40A559 - 4 years old and starting to show, colours arent as nice as I would like them to be and dark scenes look pretty shocking.
so with that in mind I would like to buy a new swish tv and was looking at the panny gt20 or st30 as i hear they are pretty good and both cost £500.

I will mainly be doing 2d stuff so 3d is not neccessary but its a nice bonus.

Am i right in thinking that even though the GT20 is a 2010 model it still beats the ST30 from 2011?

anything better, more suited?

I have the 50ST30 and am very impressed with it so far - I know nothing about the GT20's.

Coming from a G15 though it was definitely an improvement, especially the anti-reflective coating

Love my ST30. Being a higher end (although older) model I believe the GT20 has more settings you can tweak, is THX certified and can playback media over the network via DNLA. While the ST30 shipped with a newer version of Panasonics Smart TV platform ("Viera Connect") I believe that was rolled out to the GT20 in a firmware update.

The ST30 is a 2011 model and features the "Pro" infinite black, previously only available on the VT20 (the GT20 has the lesser, non pro filter).

I would (and did) go for the ST30

thanks for the comments, i hadnt really considered the ST30 since I always felt the GT20 though last year was better, but digging around it seems that actually if they cost the same its better to go ST30.

just an update, i chose the ST30 in the end, came to £573 in total and will arrive tomorrow. No glasses but not bothered about 3d and will pick up a pair on the cheap when needed.

I picked up a GT30 for one of the spare bedrooms, if the ST30 is anything like it you'll be very impressed. I went for the GT over the ST because after a visit to the Panasonic shop it I was swayed by the slimmer and more attractive fascia, I opted for the VT30 in my front room.

I've never had a Panasonic screen before but both are pretty impressive.
