How does this work,16 year old daughters and their Christmas wish list.

lets say i get her a 8250 on T-Mobile how do you use BBM , is it free etc etc

i'm pretty sure it can't be free on pay as you go because it will still use data but correct me if i'm wrong, i never keep up with the phone market i'm happy with bricks just to call and text is fine for me

thanks

Nice one cheers mate, so i could top up the £20 booster before giving it her which would cover her for 6 months.

where it says internet,bbm,e-mail does internet mean just browsing on the phone like going on facebook, forums etc etc

Really simply, Blackberrys require an extra package (called BIS - Blackberry Internet Services) applied to each account in order for the blackberry items like E-mail and BBM to work. Without this they will be akin to your bricks. Each network that sells BBs on PAYG will sell this as a bolt on that's usually around a fiver a month or a deal like above. This will include *some* data typically too in the form of an allowance per month - this is for general browsing and for the apps to use (eg the facebook app on the phone would use some of this allowance).

This is only for info purposes but the 8520 was recently superseded by the 9360 although it's about twice as expensive on PAYG deals currently. I'm not quite sure it's twice the phone though, I think RIM should have aimed lower but thats personal opinion.

She can use her existing SIM. Just need at least £20 credit and then you make the text and set up your phone. I'm sure she or her friends will know how to do the latter.

Yes, normal internet browsing is included with a fair use policy of 500MB per month. After 500MB they slow your connection down, should easily be enough for things like BBM.

500mb am pretty confident that would be enough, But if £20 for 6 months definitely covers everything we mentioned above then i'm sold. Thanks for your help much appreciated..

Does the T-Mobile deal provide access to BBM though?

Do you specifically need a blackberry addon or will any data product work for BBM?
