** OFFICIAL Football Manager 2012 Thread **

I am using every English league possible then the top flight from France, Holland, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Italy, Brazil, Argentina, Russia and Scotland. And it is still flying on a 2500k. Really enjoying it and it's maybe the first time I have played FM where Man Utd are not a really easy option. Birmingham though well they are amazingly useless as ever but you can't blame me for trying. :D

What formations is everyone using. I am getting very good results from a:

.........o Complete forward attack
..o.............o Inside forward support
.........o Box to Box midfielder
......o....o Left deep playmaker + right defensive midfielder
..o...o...o...o

4-2-1-2-1 I guess you'd call it then in attack and when I am expecting a win I use this:

.........o Poacher
..o.....o.....o Wingers + Treq
.........o Playmaker
.o......o.....o Defensive midfield and wingback
......o....o

All set to short passing low mentality at the front and the back with high in the middle - high tempo a lot of width etc.

Normally play 4-2-4 with wingers as opposed to wide midfielders, although based on only one of my two central strikers scoring I've reverted to:

.....striker..... (poacher)
LW...AM...RW (Left and Right wingers in attack mode, with an Attacking Midfielder in attack mode)
...CM...CM... (Defensive Playmaker on support mode next to a Central Midfielder on automatic)

standard back four.

Have implemented the basic of all corner tactics - best headerer and tallest defender attack front post with the ball played into front post. My right back is almost on double goal figures after less than 30 games!

As there is the option to turn leagues on and off, what do people recommend now for running leagues from the start - just the one you play in with a large database?

Thats how I see it tbh, I just run the league im in (all divisions) ie if im in England i run it to the Blue Sq North and South etc

Then I have a custom database set to Large and all top division club players from Europe and South America, which gives me over 50k players and also ensures that all the teams competing for the European prizes have proper squads.

Runs mega fast :D I mean if I focus on what im doing and dont browse the net whilst playing, ill churn through a week in a minute or so... remembering though that I play the games as commentary only.

Its quick though, I think my spec would let me have 250k players before warning me about game speed... even then id doubt it would be that much of a problem.

I'm loving this years game.

I think some of the menu's are overly complicated for the sake of it, but I'm really enjoying it.

Can someone remind me which countries are classed as EU for transfers in FM? There is a list of EU countries on the net but countries like Norway are not listed, and I could have sworn in the last version of FM I played (10), Norweign players were not classed as foreigners, whereas players from places like Macedonia were, neither of which are in the official EU list. I usually start with all the EU applicable countries players in the game so as to maximise potential bargain bucket signings as a LLM, but I can't remember the full list of countries.

Answering my own post after a bit of testing. It seems that in addition to the bona fide EU member states as per this website, the following countries are classed as EU as far as Football is concerned.

Iceland
Liechtenstein
Norway
Switzerland
Faroe Islands
San Morino
Andorra

So if you are a freak like me and like to maximise the number of eligable Bosmans, then force the game to select players from all these countries.

Cool an update already! Going to try and force steam to get this for me just so I can finish my saints season tonight. Top by 4 points in Le Champ with 7 games to go :)

Also has anyone seen the new youth intake bit?? Thought it was a much better way to do it than the last few...

Are there any torrents for these? Last time I checked SIOSI they split the files into like 20 parts with each part taking 2.5 hours to download, unless you paid for it of course.

I will put the Metallic pack with all updates in a rar and upload it to https://www.wetransfer.com/ for you. The other pack will take longer to upload, i only get 1mb/s.
