Logo help

Im trying to come up with a new logo for the business and at the moment Im not in a position to engage a professional sadly so hoping I can come up with something half decent myself.

I want it to be something quite simple and minimilist and was wondering if anyone can advise on how I can achive something similar to the Terra Nova logo thats on Sky. Link to image here I dont need it to be 3D but something along that style would be great

Once I've had a bash I will post up and if anyone could offer any further advice that would be great.

If anyone has a spare 10 minutes the business name is MM Associates and the current shabby logo is below:

Any help greatly appreciated.

what services does the business provide? any unique quality's that could be leveraged to make a memorable design?

I had a look at your site actually and quite like the 2 logos you had designed especially the one with the foot print but not sure there is anything I can use in this sector to be honest?

what sort of colour scheme are you thinking? you like the terra nova logo because of the icon between the 2 words? or you like the font?

Colour scheme is grey, blacks with a hint of yellow. I dont want anything too radical but something simple with a modern twist would be good.

Its not really the image in the middle of the Terra Logo that I like, just the style of the font.

I've been having a play about myself, will post the results up later. (So hard not to just stick MM Associates under the Sunderland logo

Haha! Not sure red and white stripes are suitable for my company!!

Yeah still working on this, hoping to have something in place for next year but not being very creative its proving rather difficult!

Edit: dunno why the quality is so bad, didnt look like that on 3ds max :S

Analog, some of those are pretty good some are completely dire!

Many thanks for the designs gents, going to have a play around with some of them on my website and business cards etc. Cant say I like the last one analog lol

Some of them were just ideas I wanted to get down others I refined a little.
