Do you turn your PC off?

It's on all the time i'm home and shutdown when at work or sleeping and not doing anything with it.
I have no choice as my PC will not recover from sleep because of something up with ASUS P6T Deluxe/OCZ Vertex2E/nVidia drivers. Or a combination of all 3...

Anyone have an idea how much power a pc would use to boot up?

I usually turn my pc off at nights before bed unless im downloading.

Anyone have an idea how much power a pc would use to boot up?

Depends how long it takes to boot up. If I assume 'some' seconds and an average of a 'handful' of watts while booting, then the total power used during this time is 'not much'. I'd estimate less than 10KJ used (300 watts for 33 seconds).
If I guesstimate leccy price at 10p/KWH then the cost to boot is 1/36 pence.

To run my PC 24/7 it adds about £10-15 onto my power meter monthly display (thank you Eon)
So the pc gets shut off at night unless its busy.

2+ years ago i would just leave it on 24/7. Energy prices among other things has stopped me doing that now.
In fact i remember this question being asked a few years back and the majority left theirs on 24/7. How times change!
