Chaps,

Long story cut short, Battlefield 3 will be arriving imminantly and I need a card to run it on.

HD 6950 DirectCU II 2048MB or GTX 560 Ti DirectCU II 1024MB TOP?

They are both around the price range I'm happy to spend...

both about same performance some 6950s will unlock to 6970

i would go for who you like the best eg nvidia or ati and be happy

Given the same price, the 6950 (imo). I only bought my 560ti because it was a good price, significantly below the 6950 price buy about £45-55 minimum.

Long story cut short

The one with the most ram 110%;), but you new I was going to say that.

As said before in your other thread, they both perform very similar, game dependant of course.

In case you don't think the 6950's clock well:

I have two of them in CrossFire that can do that!:D

you can get 2GB 560's

But generally speaking the 6950 is the faster card to start with.

Scougar are the 6950's really a better card then the 560ti 2048mb?
i have always had nvidia, because i hear a lot of bad stories about ati drivers.
i will be upgrading my 8800gt come christmas time.

I have not had a 6950 2GB so I can't comment on 'the difference' personally speaking, I can only go by reviews and the general consesus across the web. I think the 6950 is a 'better' purchase, but if you feel more comfortable getting an Nvidia card then go for it, there isn't 'that' much in it.

I have the 560Ti and am very happy with it, I don't get any stuttering/lag and it's relatively quiet given that I'm overclocking it so much.

Just take your time and read some proper reviews where the 560ti and the 6950's happen to be in the same review (just be aware that driver updates may affect results since initial card release).

But as I said, I only got the 560Ti because it was a great price at the time, if a 6950 could have come anywhere near that price I probably would have stretched to get the 6950 2GB.

Also.. the talk of 'unlocking' that is mentioned about 6950's, just be aware that the later models are not likely to unlock so please double check if you are buying on the premise that it might.

Good luck :-)

I had this decision, I bought an MSI 560Ti Oc frozr and it works a treat. Very happy and I can SLI as an upgrade without burning my PSU out as less power consumption.

I moved from an ATI 4890 :)
