Hey guys,

Just got my cooler and trying to install it, does the cooler have to be literally touching the CPU. The motherboard has this black bracket around the cpu that is secured in by four screw. do I take that out and replace with the Gelid ones?

thanks

The cooler does need to touch the cpu, I assume your using a AMD setup, then you wil need to remove the retention mechanism.

I had todo this on my parents pc.

Yeh I took it out saw the AMD backplate with it? should I replace aswell with the Gelid one supplied?

thanks again

Lol for safety reason I'll leave the backplate on, yeh Im about to add thermal paste on CPU. how much should I put?? is it best to spread it around?

cheers

Depends on the paste being used, something like AS5 they recommend a line or a dot and let the cooler spreader the paste, or use a finger in some cling film.

I've just done it here is pic I just uploaded is that enough? many thanks

The paste is called GC2, Im having trouble putting the Cooler on to the motherboard. If I try to screw in the one of the four brackets I can't screw the otherside be cause of the force of the cooler? what I am doing wrong I followed the manuel rightfully check all the screw go in the right place?

thanks

I just realised I put the brackets the wrong way round its all fitting now, thx 4 tip anyway Surveyor. Just wished these manuels are a bit more detailed. wow just about touching the RAMs. thnk god I didnt but the Vengeance RAMs otherwise no chance o f puting tht in.
