Occupy London! Here we go again!

Well, if the Tents are not insulating against the Thermal Camera, can you explain the floating in mid-air Half-Man and the floating in mid-air head and shoulders from the same Camera here:

thermalhalfman.jpg

I think it is due to the insulating properties of the Tents, you know they have a double-skin right? the outer one will be cold and not show up on Thermal imaging, but hey I look forwards to your explanation :)

no it's due to the fact that you're looking though one layer of tent, a huge cold gap of air then another layer of tent then another large layer of cold air, then a layer of clothes then the heat source....

So the only heat is that radiated from the body not convection/conductive heating.

in an occupied tent you are looking at a thin layer of material then a huge lump of heated damp air in contact with the cloth skin and warming it.

This is much the same reason that double glazing stops your house being ****ing freezing.

if the cloth of the tent could keep all that heat in

a) you'd be dead by morning
B) you wouldn't see any heat coming though peoples clothes.

Thermal Image camera only records surface Temperatures, it's not an X-Ray camera that can see all the people inside their insulated tents, probably inside their insulated sleeping bags...

Why dont they all get a grip, grab a Starbucks and enjoy a nice evening in a Hilton instead?

Perhaps if they did a days work instead of camping out in London whinging they'd be able to afford to enjoy our society rather than railing against it?

The Soviets had a constitution, ergo they weren't authoritarian?

I'm hoping you are being deliberately awkward and not just that badly educated...

having a constitution is neither liberal or authoritarian, it depends entirely on what is in that constitution with regards to the relationship between individuals and the state that determines what impact that constitution has on the social position of the country.

of course, it is also not necessary to have a constitution at all to fall into either category.

incidentally, you cannot have a libertarian socialist position as you cannot have freedom without including property and still be libertarian...

out of curiosity where do you (personally) draw the line between your enjoyment of material good s and say the feeding of the poor and desperate?

I only ask as you say in your world that everyone would have equal share, yet right now you horde several hundred pounds of luxury material property such as games consoles smart phones etc why do you not enact your own policies sell the unnecessary luxury material things and feed a couple of hundred Africans for a month?

And if you can't do it now why do you think you will when a government man comes and tells you it's time to redistribute your wealth or that any other person would accept it?

About twelve metres.

Because we live in a Capitalist world, any attempt to counter inequality will ultimately end in failure. That's just one of the reasons why i question the effectiveness of most charities.

Because we wouldn't live in a Capitalist world.

So when a man comes around and forcibly takes these things from you you'll be fine with it?

cause right now you don't sound very socialist.

If you can't do it without force how will you react when force is used to make you?

A) You do realise that that Camera is calibrated to only show 14-19C it's not going to kill anyone a 5C difference..

B) Again, it's NOT an X-Ray Camera, it shows SURFACE only.

Do you want to try again? :)

I get the feeling that i just answered these questions

Why are you such a hypocrite? You complain about the capitalist world but are happy to enjoy the fruits of it? Others dont have a games console so why do you? Obviously in an equal world not everyone could have a games console so in theory nobody should have one?

THAT'S MY POINT!

the people are behind the tent for the heat to warm the tent facing the camera it would have to leave their body, pass though their clothes, pass though the air (as radiation as convection heat would be blown away by the wind) into the tent skin warm that then fro mthat warm the air inside the tent then warm the second side of the tent then radiate out though the air and into the camera.

do you really think that is comparable to a large mass of warm moist air from your body and breath trapped inside a tent for long periods of time heating the skin to be visible to the camera?

Presumably then the occupied tent in the picture which is shown as considerably warm compared to all the others is on fire then?

A) You do realise that that Camera is calibrated to only show 14-19C it's not going to kill anyone a 5C difference..

A tent that lets no heat though (as the occupied tent is warm the others must conduct no heat from the inside as they match the ground) you would have heatstroke by morning or at least severe dehydration.

B) Again, it's NOT an X-Ray Camera, it shows SURFACE only.

WHAT?!?

The fact you say it's not an X ray camera is your reasoning you CAN'T see heat conducted a tent skin and also your reasoning you CAN see heat conducted though 2+ layers of clothing?

Can you just not read or do you really not understand physics?

No you didn't you did not answer how you would respond when wealth is redistributed.

You have much much more than most of the people, on the planet so things will have to be taken from you and given to them to redress the balance.

I think from this thread we've seen who the hypocrite is ;)

What part of 'We live in a Capitalist society' don't you understand? What do you want me to do about it?

This is a classic response from someone who doesn't think we can do better. Yes, shame on me for being so greedy. Shame on me for using goods that i got pretty much free of charge. Shame on me for not giving everything i own when those who could actually make a difference wouldn't raise a finger to save their own grandmother

That would actually make sense, if the orange tents are single skin (or have a heater/lots of people in them) and the others are double skin.

I don't really get why this matters so much but whatever :p

Correct, shame on you. Hypocrite.

If you feel so strongly about it why do you embrace it and take advantage of the good things it has to offer? Why do you exploit the fruits of capitalism for your own entertainment? You wouldnt have these things in your world, so why do you need them now?

I'll tell you why - because you've no idea what you really think, you've no idea what you are talking about and you just sit here and perpetuate a utopian myth about a society you've never been an economic part of.

It's really easy to sit and quote Wikipedia politics when you are 16. I'm sure I posted just as much pie in the sky theoretical rubbish at that age as well.

You haven't noticed that every time super has gone "protesting" it has been for something that directly benefits him monetarily?

but you'd still not hesitate to give a kidney?
