Why does purple shirt land always smell of BO?

Only naming purple shirt land because we were there yesterday but the same applies to HMV, the Apple store and Game. Speaking from experience, anyway, there might be others!

A consistent stream of BO seems to be pumped through the ventilation system and it's apparent the minute you walk in the door. :o

Is there a legitimate, technology related explanation for this? Example, do the fans on all the computer systems cause a BO-like smell? Or do the staff members these stores attract genuinely just have bad hygiene? :p

I'm thinking it may be the later purely because I had to near hold my breath at an Apple help desk(oh sorry, Genius Bar) because the two fellas checking my computer had no concept of deodorant!

/Discuss :p

Im going with some system similar to the supermarkets and the smell of freshly baked bread when you walk in.

However due to the lack of an instore bakery (at leat at my local Purple Shirt place I cant speak for them all!) they have to go with what they have available and pump the lovely fresh smelling air from the staff room into the air ducts at the entrance to the store.

People who don’t have the intelligence to shop online and get things far cheaper don’t have the intelligence to wash (properly). :p

I knew this would be the first comment, slightly regret not covering myself in the OP but no, I guarantee it's not me! Out of the hundreds of stores I visit, it's only 3 specific ones that have the smell :p

maybe these stores takes you longer to walk to giving you more time to work up a stink?

The purple shirt store can be quite handy to get a feel of the dimensions of a product, though my local one feels like a Prison with the excessive amounts of security.

because they are you typical basement dwelling geeks living in mothers basement

Perhaps the Apple store employees you describe have all ready Steve Jobs biography and are all trying out the fruit based diet he used to use and also like him at that time believe bathing once a week is sufficient. :p:D

Back in ye olde days before game shops replaced the PC section with Facebook vouchers, they all stunk, Game, Gamestation, Chips wasn't too bad though.

I remember the Manager in my local Game (it's shut down now) used to do circuits around the store with an air freshener after the worst offenders had left :).

To be honest, the people working in the Gamestation near me, look like they live on the streets.

Do they also play really **** music by any chance? I've not been in my local one for years, but there's only so much pop / trying to be a bit punk chart music you can stomach.

Probably something to do with the stores policy of giving two shirts to full time staff and employees not having time to was and iron them. Hence when I used to work for the purple store when I was a teenager I wore a t short underneath to stop the transfer of sweat
