Hi,

Currently have a ATI 4890, which struggles to play BF3 so looking for a upgrade, Im interested in the 6950 2GB models, But i hear you can get ones with dual bios switches which can get it to 6970 spec, so just unlock shaders and change gpu and memory clocks to 6790 spec,

any pointers which 6950 cards can do that ?

will this do it ?
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 6950 "Dual Fan Edition" 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

Samsung 27inch led 1080p

Thanks

thanks for the quick reply, what about the one i posted ? some say they unlocked some say they cant ? also its got a better cooler fan on it, would save me buying arctic cooling one

Thanks

I think they can, but theres like a 5% chance compared with the toxic's high rate.

For the sake of £17 or so its worth it. My 6950 is the Msi one, and its very good. BF3 on ultra gave me temps of 60c :D

if it was down to which i would have id have one of two either msi one which has good cooling or go with the sapphire toxic (which i decided to get)

maybe ask if they can lower to original price of other week cause other places do them a bit cheaper . thing is though the other places havent got them in stock i believe so this maybe why the toxics are a bit dearer

all you need to do to flash them is flick a tiny switch

Does the Toxic ship with the CrossfireX bridge thing? I believe this are like rocking horse **** to get hold of at the moment.

see if you can find the MSI R6950 2GB Twin Frozr III PE, from what I have found on the web it runs much cooler and quieter than any other 6950 , but I am not sure it will OC to 6970 settings..

6950 2GB MSI Twin frozr III here. I was in the same boat as you 2 months ago. I found from reviews that the MSI runs a lot cooler, and quieter than mostly all other 6950s out there on the market.

Runs for me all on high settings 50 - 70 FPS at 1080p.

You can find the MSI for a good price if you look hard enough on the web. Shame OCUK dont tell them any more :(
