Hi

I need to try and return my CPU i5 2500k Retail under warranty to Intel and you need to ring a UK number first.

Just wondered whether anyone had done so and what their experiences were. Did you have proof of purchase or not etc.

yes its 100% faulty spent a week finding out for sure, it was a right PITA!

Luckily its only cost me £40 for a new CPU whilst I decide what to do. Everything else I swapped out was either borrowed or returned for a refund.

It was bought off that auction site brand new (still with Intel seal) early this year so no Proof of Purchase and its a big ouch that its gone faulty.

So yes they DO go faulty!

No successful POST when inserted into 2 motherboards.
No beeps.

Gigabyte Z68AP-D3 motherboard BIOS detects CPU then immediately reboots and so on

ASUS P8P67 LE no POST screen no beeps

Using Intel Celeron G530 in motherboards both boot fine. Gigabyte was original board and returned to be tested by supplier as working. ASUS was brand new.
Also tested with 3 different working RAM one of which was new, 2 different working PSU PSU one of which was new, and fully working and tested GFX card plus using onboard gfx on Z68 same thing.

Doesn't overclocking void the warrenty with manufactures (intel)? just putting it out there but with business im unsure anyway i would imagine you need to ring them notifying a return of such item and make sure you have a invoice number - go from there...

Naaa, They wouldn't sell K versions otherwise, What do they think peeople are going to do with them? Downclock? :p

I think so anyway :D

I recently had a 2500k die on me:mad:, not sure why:confused:.

I sent it back to OcUK and got a new replacement:). Took about a month though. Didn't have to send anything but the CPU as well.

It took a month to get a replacement? That is shocking, is that the norm? I would expect a replacement within the week

yep it took almost exactly a month, really quite annoying that. And when it did turn up I was on holiday...told DPD to hold it at the depo and guess what... got home to find it behind a plant pot:mad::rolleyes:

I don't think Intel usually take that long though, lots of reports of 1 week replacements. Might have just been me lol
