Failed my driving test this week... How many attempts did it take you?

Second time. First time someone walked out clean in front of me. I had to emergency stop...

Anyway, all the best drivers pass second time (Jenson Button)

First time here with 1 minor because my left indicator hadn't cancelled at the point he thought it was supposed to when told to pull over on the left in a parking space.
Note: It had automatically cancelled by the time I had straightened the wheel.

Needless to say, I was too happy to worry about disputing a pathetic minor 2.5 years ago. :P

Shoulda made this a vote btw. :P

Passed first time, 3 minors.

1 for gear change (I HAD to screw the 1 litre engine to make it up to speed on a hill)
1 for lane positioning (Although I fail to see where tbh)
1 for stalling (I turned around a corner up a hill in second, which technically is the right gear however the engine died).

The examiner even mentioned 2 out of the 3 were down to the paltry 1 litre engine, so I'm not sure how that was my fault :/

1st time for me with like 9 minors. When I did the reverse around a corner thing, I actually hit the kerb, but the guy just said to do it again. I thought I had failed but he didn't say anything so just carried on as normal, was very surprised to hear I'd passed! :)

Category A, 2nd try,
Category B, 1st try,
Category C, 3rd try,

And in all attempts I drove as well as on my failed ones. Some examiners really are scum.

Second time around for me, with about 13 minors. I was a bit lucky to be honest, the minors do add up over the course of the test!

BTW driving on my own after test felt really different to before, mainly the sense of freedom and the fact that, yes, you really are allowed to drive in the real world by yourself.

The first couple of weeks or so after I passed, Im sure many cars beeped at me, but now driving is like second nature. So it will take time but eventually you'll get there!!

Took my driving test on the 25th at 10:44 and I am pleased to tell you all I passed with 2 minors ;) I am pretty pleased with that.

I got one minor for creeping up too close behind another car at a junction (I stopped and then slowly rolled it forward) and the other minor for not looking over my left shoulder while doing a turn in the road, The examiner said I only glanced left and I didn't take a long enough look but he also said because I was fully aware of everything around me and there was nothing around I got away with a minor mark ;)

Now all I need is some petrol and a destination :D

Bit of a thread bump.

Got my test tomorrow. Getting a bit nervous now and hope I don't fail by doing something stupid like not looking in my blind spots after my Left reverse which I seem to do too often even though I know I keep forgetting to :p.

Took me five times. I was so nervous i kept messing up on silly things.
My 5th time i thought i hit a mirror straight from the off which made calm down and just get on with it. It was his chair clicking back in the end and was over the moon i passed.
Driving for 10 years now and only had one accident that was not my fault so all is going well.

Almost same here (without the mirror thing). People who say "if you can't pass in 3 tries you shouldn't be driving" make me laugh. I have 0 nerves when driving when I'm not on a test and I've been told by several people that I'm quite a safe driver. It's a bit like saying "if you can't find your ideal partner after 3 GFs you should just stay single". :p I've seen no correlation whatsoever between how many tests people took to pass and how safe they are on the roads. I'm sure plenty of the ***** who like to undertake on the motorway in a ridiculously small gap might have passed first time...

Passed first time with 0 minors then, would pass first time with 0 minors now.

I passed on my fourth attempt. A lot of my fail's were down to a particular examiner! I and a lot of others consider myself to be a very good driver now so it has no bearing on what type of driver you are. It was the single most frustrating thing I ever had to do. IT feels like you are never going to pass, but when you do its euphoria!

I passed my test first time with 6 minors, can't remember what they were for now as it was a few years ago. I just remember getting one for having to go forward a bit to give myself more leeway in the parallel parking exercise as I knew I was going to hit the kerb - I thought this demonstrated excellent awareness of the vehicle's size :p

After 9 lessons, Passed 1st time and 2 emergency stops, Had a car pull out in front of me and reacted straight away and performed the stop, Yet the examiner still made me do it again!! That was 17yrs ago mind, When the test was a lot easier....Still though passed my class 2 & 1 a few years ago too 1st time. It is all about the application and taking it all in, nothing to do with driving skill, My OH passed on her 4th time and she is a bloody brilliant little driver.
