Hi all

im looking at getting a car for when im home from work so it wont be doing many miles at all. i just don't want to drive my van for personal use at home (can then claim 100% use through the business)

£3000
Age: 23 (insurance isn't TO bad due to where i live)
Petrol or Diesal
2 seater or 4
Something fun, nippy and looks good!

That £3000 could be pushed for the right car.

Ive gone through pistonheads but just don't really know where to start.

any ideas/ recommendations would be great?

£2.5k for a 10 year old Fiesta?

I'd suggest a Focus. You could prob get an 05 for around that price, 1.6 engine.

fuel isn't a problem as it wont be driven much, i spend most of my time working away, and on the rare occasion i have the option of a hotel with work i will drive that it. id say ill do less than 2000miles a year in it!

If so then getting a diesel car would not be a sensible idea.

i do like that supra, insurance works out at £700 to which is good in my eyes!

is there a company where i can insure my van, mini and one other car on one policy?

Admiral multicar :D

The supra I linked is auto however don't be put off by that. It does make the car a lot more of a cruiser but has the power there when you need it. The 0-60 is slightly slower than the manual but then of course that all depends how quick you are at changing gear. :p

He's dropped his price to £3200, and I'd be surprised if he didn't accept 3k :)

GTO is a good shout especially as that one is a turbo however very heavy car and parts are ridiculously expensive if they go wrong (4WS, 4WD, turbos!).

IMO I don't think the GTO is as "special" a car as the supra, although I do recognise it is a very fast and capable car :)

£3k would get you a good example of a Clio 172.

True but OP said a fiesta wasn't his type so maybe a small hatch isn't what he after? OP needs to clarify what style of car he is after :p

A clio 172 is a good buy for 3K but only if you want a mental little hatch.

i tried admiral but they wont do my van on the same policy.

I have a classic mini thats fun, nippy small car, so something a little bigger and about more special would be ideal.

I have always like the GTO but it is a massive car.... not saying that the supra is exactly small lol

i might also look at more executive cars to, audi's, bmw type thing

I think for 3K you will struggle. Plus any BMW, Audi exec isn't going to be any smaller than a GTO/Supra.

It's just the coupe shape makes it look longer than it is.
