Most EXCITING career in armed forces?

I suppose it's all exciting until you are dodging bullets or watching your best mate die.
Obviously I can imagine huge adrenaline rush in combat but I doubt it would be exciting, but I'm only going on what a few of my mates say who are in the rifles.
I knew one lad who was the "sniper" and he ended up a bit messed up.

I'd say gunship pilot. Jet would be moderately boring after a while.

You can only pilot the Apache if you have trained your eyes so much/so hard that you end up being able to read 2 books simultaneously

Apparently it gives you massive headaches when you're doing the training... but basically each eye needs to focus on a different point and do different tasks, at the same time.

Sounds crazy

I spent 16 years in the RAF fixing the finest aircraft to grace the skies but can honestly think of nothing worse than flying in them all day. Especially the little fidgety ones.

How challenging was it? Did you do any apprenticeship?

You must know quite a lot then about the workings/design of aircraft.

And you know this how?

I doubt very much it is the case.

If you dislike combat but love engineering/fixing planes etc working on planes out in the middle of no where with hand tools instead of machines etc would be great for you.

You get to do lots of varied work, pressure and speed, odd conditions, and more importantly highly skilled hand work over simpler machines would be better satisfaction.

I'm curious. What machines do you think are used that are not used to repair aircraft in the field. There's nothing highly skilled about whacking on temporary battle damage repairs or high speed tape until it can be repaired properly.

RAF and that bold bit just do not go together I'm afraid :D Every aircraft type is just a patched up millenium falcon ;)
