:o Rather nervous. Instructor's car (Yaris) is very unforgiving on the clutch compared to my Fiesta so haven't been driving mine for a while. What's everyone's suggestions to stop my nerves getting to me? :)

Have a Pint of Tea beforehand.

But seriously though keep calm just pretend that its a new instructor or something not an examiner, if you do anything wrong don't over react which could quite easily cause you to do something else wrongly.

Yeah I'm trying to reposition it in my mind as something to look forward to rather than be afraid of, as me sort of showing how good a driver I am.

Don't quite get the tea comment. :p

Just imagine your sat with your own instructor and he's taking you out for independant driving. You'll be over and done with before you know it. I passed my test first time 2 days ago! :)

Just think of the instructor stark naked on the toilet. That's always a good leveller, unless that kind of thing "floats your boat", in which case, erm, don't crash?

I'm quite a good driver when I'm comfortable with it. :)

With the greatest of respect, your not "quite a good driver" - your a novice with all of his learning still to do - you start learning once you get out on the roads and never stop until you hang up your keys for good.

The examiner will be aware of this, show him/her that your competent, don't rush, relax & go with the flow.

I remember my test(s) all too well, my first Class 1 test I was very nervous & screwed it up completely, on my second, I decided to go with a "What the Hell" attitude toward it and somehow passed with iirc 1 minor.

Good luck & as I say, relax.

(Have the pint after, NOT before!)

It's really not that hard, good luck, treat it like a lesson.

Also if you do stall or whatever, do not think you've already failed, just keep going as you would. :)

This. I remember stalling the car in my test because some asshat was on the wrong side of the road as I was rounding a tight corner, didn't see him to the last minute, flipped the driver the bird and carried on. Thought it was all over so drove the rest of the test (~20min) with a whatever attitude. Tester commented on how well I handled it and didn't even mark me down :)
