Just had my first ever HBOS call asking about recent purchases on my card. Guess you started that?
Overclockers! For a measly £10.98.
I've put some pre-orders on there and been using it again for online purchases, but thought they would ask about my recent list and not just the one from "a computer specialist and hardware supplier" (i think that's what they called OCuk).

Anybody else get this with OCUK or was it just due to quite a few recent payments going through?

BTW it was an automated system, not an actual person.

Anti-Fraud systems just use algorithms to detect irregular spending and score them, depending on the score it will flag with a referral and prompt a call; sometimes certain retailers can also flag the systems, again, dependant on recent activity!

Considering the amount it's unlikely to be because it was at OcUK but more to do with recent spending habits :)

I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of kids stole their parents credit cards to make OcUK purchases.

Oh noes, Battlefield 3 is coming out, I need me a new gfx card!!!!111

When I spent over 1k for my pc from ocuk it wouldn't go through. Apparently halifax thought it was a fraudulent transaction so I had to call their fraud department and get it authorised...

edit: infact they prevented all payments going out from my card which was quite annoying!

I had one 2 weeks ago from Natwest when I placed an order on iwoot.com, ended up speaking to someone because I dislike automated services.

cheers McDaniel, thought it was a mixture of both.
It quickly popped off about some security feature and thought it was the usual log in nonsense. So clicked on a new tab while I loaded, went back to the OCuk page and it was on the review purchases page. Next thing I know getting a phone call, something clicked and thought it would be the bank.

At least you got a phone call, I had to figure it out on my own >< Even the normal customer services (at halifax) didn't have a clue.

Unfortunately the Fraud indicators can specifically be seen by fraud machines and for core front end services give an ambiguous decline code, making it a bit of a pain to understand what the root cause was!

Getting better though

Back when I was starting out in business, I spent over 2 grand in a camera shop, no problems, but ten quid in petrol? No, that must be fraud, so I had the whole rigmorale of doing that phonecall thing

I got a call after ordering something on steam, which was wierd because I'd already used my card on steam numerous times before the call. Ah well, better safe than sorry i suppose.
