McKenzie, a 45-year-old Canadian entrepreneur bought the mineral rights to to a mountain sight unseen.

Based on a resource assessment performed for McKenzie’s company Ucore by Aurora Geosciences, Bokan may contain mineral deposits worth $ 6.5 billion. That figure is not for uranium, though, but a group of elements called rare earths.

Rare earths are crucial to modern and developing technologies but were little discussed until a temporary embargo in 2010 by China, which produces about 97 percent of the world’s supply, sparked a global prospecting frenzy.

Not bad for a 2 million investment

3250%? He's made jack **** until they extract $2Million worth of Ores over what it costs to extract them, it may as well be cash on the Moon, completely useless unless you can actually get to it.

I thought it was going to be about someone who bought a load of hard drives a few weeks ago! :p:p

Assuming he doesn't play it safe and sell the rights on again for much more than he paid for it.

I remember reading last year when the US discovered a huge amount of rare earth materials, the problem though was that due to the amount of money and time it would take to not only mine all of it but to construct the processing plant too it would be too great so they just get all their rare earth stuff from china who have their stuff already set up.

Now that the main rare earth miner in china is intentionally slowing production to boost the value of the materials perhaps that will force other countries into reconsidering their own mining/refining options.

If he wants to cash in he could probably sell the rights on straight away for a crazy profit.

interestng world where you have $2million lying around to invest without any reports in a blind manner.
Given the situation, I'd say there were reports prior to the investment, or strong suspicions anyway, and thees are not being discussed due to the possibility of misrepresentation under law.
