Hi everyone!

I pre-ordered an Antec Kuhler 620 along with my new rig today in OcUK. I already bought the artic silver 5 because a friend recommended me.

I just wonder if the Kuhler 620 comes with some previous paste on it. In that case, is there an easy way to remove it an put the AS5 (is it worth it?).

On air-coolers, the thermal paste is spread over the CPU, covering the whole square. Because the kuhler 620 is more rounded (in fact, for installing it, you need to rotate the cooler into the bracket) I would like to know where/how should I spread the AS5. I am afraid that if I cover the whole CPU with the paste, this can go outside the CPU once I install the cooler

Many thanks!

Yes it comes with silver paste pre-applied and protected with a plastic cover, you dont have to do a thing apart from mount it.

Thx, I didn't know this website. But I just wonder if for the particular case of the kuhler 620 would be different (its surface is rounded and no rectangular like most of the air coolers)

I saw some pictures and it seems that the pre-applied paste does not cover the whole copper surface of the cooler. Is that right or do i need to spread the paste?

Thanks :)

I used the pre applied paste on my 620 and my temps on my i5 2500k overclocked to 4.5ghz are 29-30c idle and 66-68 on load...

Ide leave the stuff already on, Ive had no trouble with mine

I've tried AS5 and ICDiamond on the 920, it's all much a do about nothing and not worth losing sleep over or indeed wasting time removing one for the other.

Ah yes, and don't forget to take the plastic cover off  its thermal properties are quite poor :D

Andi.

good one!

Well, as you have recommended me, I'll keep the pre-applied paste if the difference is not important. However I've already bought the AS5, so maybe I could give it a use in the future.

Many thanks
