It's hard to believe Smosh became famous for lip syncing a Pokemon theme song now look at their videos.

I've been on youtube since 2005 and seen so many youtube stars rise and fall.

My favourite 'famous' youtuber is thewinekone. Watched him from the very beginning and he's yet to sell out and still producing good quality videos.

So how are these folks actually making money?

Apparently they make $2.5-$5 per 1000 video views. The more popular partners get more. So people like Freddiew who get like 7,000,000 views per video are raking it in.

Then, as if that wasn't enough, they open another channel where they do video logs. These videos rake in 100s of thousands of views. Some of the greedy ******* even have 3 or more channels. Usually a gaming channel, where they play games and then chat utter **** over the top.

They also sell merchandise. Not sure how much they make from this but whenever there is a vidcon etc, there are thousands of people proudly wearing their shirts. I'd guess they make a fairly large profit from this.

They also work for hitviews and get invited to Hollywood parties and put up in 5* hotels. Get to do commercials and other small acting gigs. Enter competitions and their sheep fans win them $1000 worth of prizes. Also get sponsorship deals.

Really makes me sick as Youtube is no longer about making videos for fun. its all about making money. It wont be long before your favourite Youtube "star" starts negotiating more money or they will stop making videos. Just like actors do. In fact this probably already happens :o.

I'm quite surprised to not see Freddiew and Tobuscus up on that list.

The best two things on youtube..

freddiew - he makes awesome and innovative short films / clips, often based around FPS games.

FPSRuissia - tests out BIG guns in his back yard, seems to have unlimited resources to the guns he can get, and has a real funny presence on camera :D

Safety is low on the agenda :D

I love Seananners from Machinima, funny guy :)

Quite like LagTV as well, they're not that big but very entertaining.

RWJ makes me sad because he earns more than I ever will and he is painfully unfunny and irritating.

Watched the video in post #6 and now never want to use the internet again.

Jesus Christ, I'm so out of touch it's not even funny.

I'm using YouTube every day and I'm pleased to say I haven't seen any of them. You're not out of touch it's just that you don't watch such appalling dross.

Some people find them funny, most aren't, some are like nigahiga and some are just awesome people that like to share there life like shaytards/shaycarl.

This guy is weird.

I dislike these guys who give up actually working for a living to pump out unfunny videos on a daily basis.

Their checklist for every video is: pull (un)funny faces (in both the video and the thumbnail), blurt out overused internet memes, mention something that is popular in the news or on the net at the time for 5 seconds and then go off topic and at the end ask you for your opinion so you leave a comment (because they care and will definitely read it) LOL

Then when they start to get really popular, they'll make more YT accounts and ask you to subscribe to them as well so they can make more money. I think at one time I heard Gaydawson had around 3 channels so he can reap profit from them all. Pretty shocking! Smart on his part but what a colossal ****

Oh and if you want to see that weeaboo with the 'fantastic' rack then go to ED, search the YT portal, find her name and shazam (just to warn you the pictures aren't as good as you'll expect) :p

God I can't believe I'll say this but bring back the days of Lonelygirl15. It was retarded but to a lesser extent. You know ****s bad when Fred was the first to 1 million subscribers :o

I hate all these youtubers, they just seem like complete douche bags to me.

Made by them and watched by them hence the large viewing figures. Mind you I bet a large number of those watching are American teenagers which would explain a lot.
