Is BF3 as GFX card intensive as we were told

Nah not at all, 2gb 6950. Everything on ultra, hbao and 0xaa, but the other is set to x16, forgot what its called. 40-60fps (sometimes a lot higher then 60) without hassle at all. Or I can have it all on high with max AA.

EDIT vsync = off

Same for me and my rig in sig.

All maxed with no msaa at 1920x1200.

Any one having issue with xfire cards, is probably becuase you do not have enough vram.

Ultra requires cards with significantly more than 1Gb vram (1.5Gb +)

Runs fine and looks great with my 6970 on Ultra. Would love to switch vsync on to reduce screen tearing but its not working.

Seems to be a larg demand between High and Ultra. Geting 40-60FPS on High in large conquest maps, but it drops to a 25 and below slideshow in Ultra :(

Can't wait to get a new GPU in the new year :)`

I'm well impressed with how my GTX 460 1GB is coping. Didn't change any settings and it defaulted to high on everything and seemed to be hitting 60FPS (Vsync on) most of the time and that's at 1680x1050. Definitely putting off a new card until next year when i can hopefully get a new PSU, new monitor and new card, hopefully one of the AMD 7k series or whatever NVidia brings to the table.

is a bit slow loading the maps though. I've heard various people saying 8GB makes it faster, but I'm also thinking it's my spinning Storage device and an SSD would help more? Obviously SSD is 2 or 3 times the price!

I haven't got BF3 yet and tried it yet on my GTX 570 but the Beta did play extremely well on my previous 6870 on default high settings - I was getting 40ish fps most of the time.

I don't necessarily plan on playing BF3 in full Ultra settings either - I always go for smooth performance if the differences graphically are small but demanding. Having said that, if Ultra plays smooth even if fps is not that great, then it doesn't really matter too much for the SP campaign.

The engine seems very well optimized IMO. I am running a gtx 460 with only 768mb of vram and I am playing at 1080p on medium settings and i get solid 55 to 60fps.

As I've said in all the other BF3 threads on here. I haven't had any problems with the ATI MSI Radeon 6950 Twin Frozr III Power Edition, it's less labour intensive that Crysis is on my machine

I'm now getting annoyed. Logged on to play a bit today and all of sudden everything is going all stop starty! I play smooth for 5 seconds, then, jerk o vision, like something somewhere is trying to take all my processor power. No idea what's causing this, running latest drivers, super duper cross fire, 3K box of epicness power and bobbins game play. I'm tellin me mum if this carries on.

i7 920 @ 3.6Ghz, 4870x2, 6GB RAM.

1900x1200 with most things on High and I get 40fps+. Feels quite stuttery though but I think ATI are working on it.

i7 920 @ Stock
6gb RAM
GTX480 @ Stock

1920x1080 everything is set to Ultra. MSAA off and Motion Blur turned off and FOV is 90.

It does not drop below 48fps so far after a bit of campaign, metro and karkland.

Seems one of my 2GB sticks had come loose, just reseated and seem to have lost jerkovision I was getting ,but still stutters a bit
