**The Official Nokia Lumia 800 Thread***

The camera isn't any where near as good as the GS2 or iPhone 4S according to quite a few reports. Some say it even appears that the phone has been rushed and one review said it had a red spot on quite a few pictures which they reckon is due to an internal reflection inside the phone...not good at all...

Sounds bad, but I'm a bit sceptical of these reports at the moment.

If true, that is not good news at all for Nokia. Beyond ridiculous.

I will get this phone if the camera reports are unfounded. I loved my N95 and the camera on it was fantastic so i'm expecting great things.

google lumia 800 camera. More bad than good in all the (p)reviews with most saying it's dark and has trouble focussing when subjects are close. However, they could be using pre-release hardwae, but if they aren't....then this is looking bad (again) for Nokia

:/
if the camera isnt very good, then my wanting to buy it does drop a fair bit too :/ (half the ram, 16gig vs upto 64gig, then nfc front camera etc :x

thinking about it, maybe it was a rush job, there is a bunch of things the n9 has that the 800 doesnt, the 800 does have a hardware camera button while the n9 doesnt?

Hmmm that's odd, as its the same camera that's in the N9.

I agree, I am very skeptical about these reports though.

had another read and it seems that maybe it's poor quality control...one exhibited problems whilst another was much better!

I have almost always had Nokia phones, my first one being the Nokia 101 in 1994!

Have been looking forward to these new phones from Nokia with WP7 but the first reports about the camera not being too good is making me think I may wait to the next batch of releases next year before I swap from my GS2.

Hopefully a firmware update can fix some issues.

Lol cnet :p

It was never as good as the latest Sony/Samsung sensor but it'll be decent enough. They're probably still getting everything to work with the s2 snapdragon isp, jpg encoder etc too.

Just went to the town and into a couple of phone shops to see if the Titan was on display and came across a working 800 in P4U...

It is a very well built phone, it looks like one solid lump, with the screen seemlessly attached to the rest of the body. The screen is stunning as well (compared side by side to the Omnia 7's AMOLED), the slightly smaller icons due to the slightly smaller screen almost looks better (and much better than the giant icons on the Titan). I didn't manage to see it too much as it was in a very restrictive holder but the overall design looks very nice in the flesh although it looks a little thicker than I'd like, compared to the Titan (with HTCs usual sharp lip on the screen) it is very nice though.

The Nokia navigation program looked quite good as well, although i didn't test out the turn by turn part, it did seem a tincy bit laggy when panning through the 3D buildings though (when I say through I mean through...)

If the camera issue tyrns out to be not as bad I may be tempted to see how much it goes down in price by around christmas and swap my Omnia 7 for it...

Sounds promising, I had a similar text from a friend today saying how impressed he was with the phone.

It sounds like Nokia could be on to a winner here....

As long as the camera is roughly as good as the Galaxy S II it will be fine.

I'm looking forward to trying one, maybe it could replace my iPhone 4, maybe.

I really like this phone, but for me to have gone for a new WP7 phone (Instead of my recently ordered RAZR), I needed a bigger screen, with a higher resolution than currently. It's a shame, but that to me is a huge thing. Other than that, I absolutely love WP7, and I'd really love it to get the attention from the public that it deserves.

As unimportant as the camera is to me, I still feel like it's a letdown given their history with the N8; if they couldn't develop a new, better sensor, why not just leave that one in with the Lumia? Was there a problem with the supplier/manufacturer of the sensors?

But its still the same resolution as all the others, which for me makes it daft having such a big screen. Believe me, I was very close to ordering the Titan. I just think the hardware is a too limited at the moment. Once they start support higher resolutions, I'll be happy again. Because I do really like wp7, I love my optimus 7 to bits
