Battlefield 3 thread - Server details in opening post -

These maps are freaking terrible, so many choke points which end in stalemates with both sides spamming rockets. In Metro it's impossible to get up to B as Americans since the Russians get there first and have the high ground advantage. BF:BC1 and 2 and awesome open maps, none of these corridor shooter maps. Also the game crashes like clockwork every 2nd round, and I lose all my points.
 
cant get in a game tonight without stuuuuupid amounts of lag! any one else getting this problem? in battlelog it says my ping is 30-50 depending if they actually show up.
had no probs playing yesterday it dont make sense
 
Just got an invite to join the Bronken server, but i can't as i am not at home, so not at my PC. I am at work atm and will be logged in to Battlelog all night probably.

I agree though, the Bronken server is one of the best i have played on, has had the least lag by far for me

But i got to admit, in a jet on BF3 isnt half as good as flying in bf2. my personal oppinion, the maps seem, .. not "too small" but too centred in one place, all the infintry action is in one place, and there is nothing on the outside of the land/infantry battle :/ so if you get taken down in the air and have to abandon aircraft and are outside the battlezone, dead. or if you land just inside the battle zone, 5 min walk to the nearest battle. there aint flags scattered across maps which kinda sucks

I hope they fix this no point Dice claiming that Battlefield 3 has the largest maps seen in any Battlefield game if they bunch the flags all in the middle just wasted space

I played cs 1.4 for years, then 1.6 for years, then c:ss source for the equivelent of both put together, then it was battlefield 2, i put just as much hours into it as all the counter strikes, absolutely amazing gameplay, infantry shooting on it wasnt the best and precise as counter strikes, but was just fantastic when teams put tatics together, as the title is called it was a "battlefield" it felt like it really was. then i joined the "cod" routine with cod mw 2, which i actually liked as it was my first cod experience, then i saw a friend who had bought every cod title since that game, and they are all the same, just different guns and maps, what a waste of money, i got bored easy.

Battlefield 3, iv put 5 hours into it so far, im not as hardcore gamer as i used to be sitting up all night this and that, and so far, iv got more fun out of it than the past 8 years of gaming, its accurate infantry based, its exciting especially when there is a tank chasing you and you dive behind a wall and BOOM all hell breaks loose, destruction is great, graphics are amazing even with my old 4870x2 i aint running it ultra but im running everything high and it looks Amazing so im happy, the sounds are amazing think thats one of the key things about battlefield 3... i just cant get my head round how much it blows everything out the water to be honest lol.

Sure it has little things here and there that annoy you, but every game we love has something that makes us mad right? if you don't get mad about dieing, you aint taking it seriously, and its the first game thats made me mad about dieing in 4 years :p

Or etleast have two versions of the maps, like conquest close combat, all the flags bunched together, and a version where they are all spread out.

Someone posted the maps to 1942 some pages back and they seemed a lot bigger than the BF3 maps. And they claimed BF3 had bigger maps! Just LOL. Jets suck in BF3. They are absolutely crap against tanks etc. No bombs unless they are unlockable.

Also the height you can go in the jets is set far too low.
 
It sucks when you get your w/l ratio up to around 2 and then get a string of assault maps in public servers which are basically impossible to win without a squad on your team being a good squad. Thus dropping your w/l down to the depths :(

Jets unlock more weapons :)

I just hope that the DLC BF2 maps will be a carbon copy none of this bunching

Found the FPS killer, and it's not Deferred AA, it's Mesh detail. Keep everything on Ultra, but turn Mesh down slowly until you hit low, do this on Caspian Border whilst facing the central bit, you'll see your FPS gain 5-10.
