Wireless KB & mouse for gaming ?

Unless wires bother you why would you change?

Wireless works fine and I couldn't even tell that it was wireless most of the time but when the batteries died (no battery can last forever) it was annoying, I don't even notice that the wires are there when using my mouse/keyboard so I would much prefer that over worrying about charging/replacing batteries

The new Logitech wireless devices have the batteries lasting for 2-3 yrs.

Now that's pretty impressive !

It may be impressive but it's still more replacing than my wired setup requires, and I imagine that those batteries are silly expensive and you need to buy them every 2-3 years

Another vote for the Logitech 750 solar powered. Absolutely love this keyboard and gaming with it seems fine, no lag whatsoever (then again I am just a casual player). I much prefer the chiclet style keys, makes it so much easier and quicker to type, and also react quicker in games (for me at least). Have the MX518, might look for a wireless mouse too at some point.

Nope you can get 2-3 years off one or two (depending on the mouse) AA batteries and as has been said before the K750 requires no changing of batteries as it is solar powered with a tiny watch battery that will keep you going for a few days if you like to shun sunlight for a few days.

Lets be honest I am sure most of us here have AA batteries readily to hand at all times so 2 minutes every 2-3 years is really a totally inconsequential amount of time. Also Logitech driver software is really good at monitoring battery and giving you a decent time to replace the batteries so its not even like you will randomly cut out mid-game...unless you are a retard and ignore the low battery popups.

No problems with my sidewinder x8, the battery lasts for about 4 days before it needs recharging...its not a problem.

I sit at the desk to use my pc so I can't think of a reason why a wireless keyboard would be of any use.

I've always had issues with using wireless mice and keyboards in this house; I don't know what it is. Most of the time they're fine, but occasionally a key simply wouldn't be registered which can be seriously annoying. This wasn't just one set either - I had a Logitech combo pack with keyboard+mouse; before that a Microsoft mouse (which my dad still uses, actually) with wired keyboard.

I am thinking of switching to the Logitech Bluetooth desktop at some point, wireless freedom with what should be guaranteed connection - we have one at work and it works really well.

Unfortunately, it's rather expensive and doesn't offer enough over my X6 + Deathadder to justify the price :(

Do you sit next to a wireless router? That can affect them as they use 2.4GHz. I had problems with cutting out till my gf got a new laptop and I switched the wireless to 5GHz.

Do they have any wireless mouse similar in size and feel to the MX518, if so I may swap, looking not get a k750 so if any going cheap :p

Well this thread has clinched it for me, been wanting to go wireless for a while but was a bit unsure how gaming friendly the new kit really is. Having read the comments here I've just ordered a K750 and a G700. :D

Be sure to come back on here and let us know your own personal review of your new equipment :). Also what sort of level of gamer you are and how fussy you are to perfection.

Well, I've been using both for just over a week and I have to say I'm throughly impressed. I've had no issues at all with loss of connection or lag with either the KB or mouse.

As for gaming, I primarily play military combat flight sims so zero lag isn't essential although a reliable connection with no dropouts is. I play BF3 as an occasional time killer, and the odd other game from time to time but not regularly or seriously enough to say an FPS geek would be happy with them.

As an example of time spent in FPS games I bought BF:BC2 on release and hadn't even obtained all the unlocks before I moved to BF3 :D. I play non flight sims for, at most, 4 or 5 hours a week.

But with that said, I can't say either product has had any noticeable issues.

I do agree that the G700 not using the unifying receiver is a bit of an annoyance though.

Agreed. That's why I went with a M510. Is it cos the G700 is old tech? In which case, it will not share the same advanced technology as the M510.

I think it is because they want to make sure that all of the bandwidth is dedicated to the mouse so they can claim some ridiculous specs or something. No need really thats why I went with the M705.
