Desktop/2D corruption any ideas

Any ideas what this may be caused by? Got a ticket open to XFX but suspect it will be an RMA to the retailer. Does it under every driver version I've tried and two separate PC's with the same spec as in my sig.

Oddly it wasn't corrupting the OCUK page as I posted this but the task bar at the bottom has the same green dots on it:confused:

Not a great image, seems the screenprint isn't really capturing the corruption..very odd...

If a screen shot isn't showing the corruption then it may not be the graphics card.

A screen shot should show exactly the image that the card is outputting so if the corruption isn't shown there then it may be the monitor or the cable.

When you tried the card in the second PC were you using the same monitor and cable?

If you can try a different monitor and try your current monitor with a different cable.
 
Thanks surveyor, I moved the card over to a completely new PC including monitor and cable.

Just looked on the laptop and the image when maximised shows some of the green pixels top left between the second pair of shortcuts. That's what is showing all over the screen on and off.

I'm guessing the retailer will just refund as the equivalent card in performance is a good deal more expensive than the £70 I paid for the 5830 which aren't sold any more.

I see what you mean.

FYI if the retailer offers a refund then it may only be a partial refund depending on how long you've owned the card and the attitude of the retailer.

Yes I did wonder about that although it has been around 4 months I would expect a full refund would be due. I'd rather have a 5830 that works though! I have one in each PC just designed as stop gaps until 7xxx arrives and a fall back should I need to RMA a card in the future. I'll see what XFX says initially and RMA if they think it's defective...
 
Just been trying out the Witcher 2 and it runs fine no corruption at all. Just these odd random green pixels in 2d. Strange thing is I don't see them on the OCUK web page but on the Witcher 2 page I do...anyone any ideas?
