Asus Crosshair V Formula 990FX

It's a very good board, but if you've already got an AM3 board, keep it.
If you haven't got an 1100T yet, or an AM3 board, then go Intel.
AM3+ at present isn't a worthwhile platform buying brand new.

It is a good mobo but after owning the Crosshair IV, I will not be buying another. No real reason but the bells and whistles that come with it are largely redundant in normal use. It will not overclock and higher than a cheaper mobo.

This will do pretty much do everything one could want and is only £125.

I am ordering one this week.
Will you become the first Zambezi owner :p?

Which Intel CPU and Mobo would you recommend. Im not too interested in the Sandybridge E but I guess that the price of the current I5 and I7 processors will come down when these are released.

The Crosshair V Formula is an awesome board, easy overclocking, stable, packed with features, get it !!!

*EDIT* Oh and "PapaLazaru" is correct, the Crosshair V Formula is not £150, its £191.99p.

Yes, the board's fine, but there's no way in hell anyone should buy it if they haven't got a vested interest in AMD.
And 191 quid for the CH V is wayyy too high.

An MSI gen 3 board with a 2500k.

I bought mine with a cheap Phenom, with intention of upgrading to Bulldozer, I was kind of hoping that there might be a slight IPC increase at that point in time instead of the what people were saying at the time.

eventually I will get BD but it was just a case of hoping for jaw dropping performance or even a slight increase in IPC which would have made me preorder on release.

I decided to update my bios a few weeks before the release of BD at which point it decided it wouldn't clock my Phenom as high.

As it is my phenom wont clock very well so the chances are BD would out perform it with a nice overclock, so I will "upgrade" but just when I have cash to waste rather then going out of my way to buy it.

So I wouldn't really suggest the Crosshair V but it is a nice board just processor choices aren't what I would have expected when I first bought it.

I just bought the CH V F and stuck my Phenom II 965 in there.

Could never get a stable 4Ghz with this chip on any other board, but with this one I get it OCd to just shy of 4.1Ghz P95 stable

Bumped the NB up to 2700, HT Link to 2400 (ish) - RAM 1800Mhz G-Skill Ripjaws
