6950 or GTX570

i just hope my 500w psu can handle it

Minimum recommended by Nvidia is 550w for a stock 570.

'At a bit over 500 Watt, there's nothing we'd be worrying about when it comes to this card. If you've got the money to buy something like this, the chances are you've already got a capable PSU.'

Risky to say the least, possible ~£100 extra for your upgrade.:(

I would have gone for the 6950 if bf3 was the game i was playing. Simply because at ultra 1080p msaa is not a great option and amd cards have the upper hand when fxaa is the preffered option.

Anyhow the gtx570 is a fantastic card and when all games come into play it is the faster card. Then again if the 6950 unlocks its is the faster card at stock taken from techpower who use an extensive range of games in there tests.

They dont run better than amd cards on intel setup. They just dont run as well on an amd setup probably due to nv need more cpu power to unlock the power. Amd cards probably run better on intel due to the power of the cpu's also.

you properly know more than me, but i read 'somewhere' that the i7 and nivida is the best hook up

That probably comes down to the gtx580 being the fastest single gpu on the planet but if you go to dual gpu cards then the 6990 is the leader.

fair do's mate, im def not in the know, happy with my 570 though and always preferred the nvids

think i have owned about 8 nvids and 2 ATI's

£240~£250 for the Sapphire 6950 2GB Toxic is ridiculous though, since that's pretty much same price as the GTX570. If it was priced at £220 like before, then it may worth considering...

It would be if it never unlocked to a 6970 along with having a great cooler. The majority of these cards are unlocking so seems like a pretty good deal to me when comparing to a 6970.

Are you not better just paying the extra £18 for a 6970 ? as its not a lot to pay to avoid the risk
My point exactly...which is why I think the 6950 2GB Toxic is overpriced. It should be at least under £230 to worth the gamble.

Anyway, should be end of the thread considering OP already got he wanted...a very fast graphic card for the price.

I agree with you there, at launch that's what price it was, if you keep your eye open it'l probably be found for £224.;)

lol, kei's not told us anything yet, it's jimlad that's bought a 570!

oops, got the members mixed up :D
Great cooler? its reference >_>
It looks like a reference cooler, but it's cooling capability is much better, so it will allow users to set custom fan profile for lower rpm, thus lower noise level as well.

May be one should wait for GTX560Ti 448core as well? If manufacturer would would release a 2560MB version it is possible to be sub £250.
