Dungeon Defenders - How are you levelling your characters?

Hey, well i've been playing dungeon defenders a lot and currently feel like I need a respec of my level 52 squire.

I play both solo and with my flat mate so I figure I need to max both my traps and hero health/damage. I'm then lost as to what to do with the remaining 59 points. Are the abilities really worth using?


I was thinking maybe:

60 / 60 / 0 / 0

0 / 59

60 / 60 / 0 / 0

Not sure why you didn't just post in the DD thread...

...but Tower Rate of Fire is just as important as damage. Unless you plan on going toe to toe with lots of insane mobs without a Fairy to heal you maxing hero health is overkill given how much it gives you. Blood Rage should be pretty powerful without the need to invest more and it really depends how strong your weapon is. Range probably isn't all that necessary to spec into much. If you're planning on going into the action you could always do with a little extra speed too.

I do agree it's important but at the same time when i'm playing with others the mage towers are the ones being used so the damage is mainly for the slicer and bumper plus when I solo, which is not as often. I'm right in saying the mage towers are the best DPS towers aren't I?

I did suspect that the HP was a little overkill. I also thought that speed is very easy to come by on equipment so it isn't as useful but a lil boost wouldn't go a miss I guess.

I plan on farming a very strong weapon and maxing it's damage on it for killing bosses quickly.

Thanks for the input. I suspect I shall likely be using your spec or something very close to. I feel the hp on towers could be a bit higher though, but I do tend to get equipment with that on anyway. My HP bonus to towers is currently +120

Due to the diminishing returns on stats however I don't think going all teh way to 70 is the best thing. I think I might keep my cap at 60, seems some recommend 50.

Lol, Mage Towers are quite underpowered compared to the Squires. Harpoons get almost twice the damage for a slightly slower attack rate with physical damage that pierces down a whole line of enemies compared to Fireballs which merely do a decent amount of AoE damage diminishing further from the radius which suffers against Fire Immune enemies. Bowlings Balls get probably 4 times more dps and if used in the right place can completely lock down narrow passages.
The only real advantage they have is that against Wyverns, Harpoons have such a big range they tend to ignore the Wyvern till its too late whereas 2 magic missiles could finish it off in moments and have a small enough range they wouldn't get distracted.

Never seen anyone recommend keeping it lower than 70. If you're trying to make a hybrid then I can understand to some extent but if I was using it for pure towers or pure damage then I'd be speccing 70s to max it.
 
Well given the recent patches this is what I am planning:

DPS spec squire with points put into tower hp for spike barricades and points in casting speed for repairing towers on the go.

Tower spec mage - Probably will use his barriers tbh for the elemental removal.

Aura spec monk - A necessity now that the squire has been nerfed.

Trap spec huntress - LOL gas trap + inferno in lightning aura = easy mode on insane.

Might do a dps spec huntress as well if i have time.
 
That sounds like more effort than I'm willing to put in haha. Do you know when the other 2 classes will be released? You will have to delete some heros then perhaps :O.
