*** League of Legends ***

Might be coming to my end in LoL. Not played a game this long in years but having to rely on 4 other people if doing randoms or even 1 or 2 people when doing it as a group is starting to take it's toll on me. You can do everything right and you still lose because people don't know how to play... Last ranked game had an Irelia who fed Rumble up top and he just destroyed our team :/

I know the feeling, luckily we had a couple of more fun games tonight which has revived my love. I think possibly take the meta less seriously and maybe even the game less seriously - both improve it for me :)

Wins has nothing todo with your rating - my wins is probably at the top of the mumble crowd but in terms of rating i'm towards low to mid.

Wins does equal time played though, and generally people who have played more game are more experiences and generally a bit better player (better then average randoms). Keep in mind this is all random queue play, I'm not talking about ranked stuff.

After a certain point, time spent playing doesn't matter. The level you play at does.

You weren't doing everything perfect. Always take something away from every single game, otherwise you will never improve. Even the professionals have an aspect of their play they think they are **** at and hate :D

Also don't play ranked on a Sunday. This should be a well known rule (I mean come on, even Saturday is pretty dodge) :p

We played a 3 man premade - so 2 randoms. First random says Trynd top, fine we can handle that. Second says Udyr - perfect a jungle, we can focus in the laning stage on bottom and middle. Then Udyr says but not Jungle :(

The amount of prerage before the game was a wonder to behold. We dodged and thank fully got a further 2 players from our own group

Also going back to the normal games, the ranking is a separate entity to the ranked, but the only difference in normal and ranked is one displays your rating and the other doesn't. Everything else is exactly the same. Rating a player on performance as opposed to time played is way more sensible - even if I don't like how it performs the rating

It is after all just a game.

I've certainly being seeing some more diversity in the meta of 'normal' matches. Many teams without junglers and without supports, and to be honest they are very hard to stop lategame

All other games were fine online and I was only one on the network at the time (30mb). Just LoL didn't want to play.. Id get random lag spikes and warp around.. Even had someone ask where did I come from when I warp ganked

It was a peering problem between Virgin and their ISP, all fixed now but it was pretty bad, I did an amazing (or so I thought) Amumu ult getting all 5 and then realised I got none of them, the server just lagged them into the position of it :(.

That's the excuse I use with galio sometimes as well ;)

I so dont rate Irelia solo top these days, she is just too fragile for the first 8 or so levels, and against a rumble (who i so should buy at some point) thats a total loss there is nothing you can do against him except try not to die.

Played a game yesterday against a blitz trynd combo, they auto attacked my minions so i fell back to my tower, was on full health under my tower, blitz pulled me (but i was still in tower range) , trynd hit me like 3 times and span out and that was me dead at level 1 without actually hitting anything yet in the game.

Very meh!

Personally i am currently thinking solo tank top would be much better, went Maokai the next game and while i only had a Shen to face off against that game nobody kills Maokai and he harrasses like a total boss.

Also dont rate supports at all either, sure i understand its nice to have one bottom to assist your ad carry but if your doing no damage and they have 2 offensive characters bottom your going to die as you cant support as fast as they can kill.

So there you go, 2 changes to the all powerful metagame right there... the only thing holding people back is the notion that if you dont copy the pro's exactly then you will loose

Having a couple of bad randoms on your team seems the norm these days. In all honesty I've started doing one on one matches with a mate which is great because it's fun, we **** each other off but it's not turning vicious and we learn a bit about new champs. Can recommend a match or 2 just with mates if it's getting you down being grouped with turd-flinging gibbons every match :P

In fact if I had 4 mates willing to play the game instead of 2, I'd not play a random ever again.

Also if you're getting jaded, buy a new champ. For ages I've been swearing about Akali being a better assasin than Noc (my favourite champ). Bought her last night to prove a point to myself, and while she does take a little skill to play, she's massively more deadly once she gets that ulti. Still, been winning matches with her so I guess something's right :P

I agree and disagree. If you play a carry/heal support against a 2 carry (or however you want to call it :) ) then any poking done on the other 2 means they can't heal whereas the support keeps the carry alive and perky. Now move to mid/late game and the support's usefulness starts to tail off. But that initial early to mid game stage can be critical. That said not against it but that is the downside of not having that combination. We had a soraka on our team and he roamed a bit which worked quite well and then came back to assist me as kog from time to time. Actually worked well.

You and your mate are very welcome to join the mumble group. All sorts of player levels and styles. But either way you'll find it more enjoyable - though it is intense over a solo or duo queue group.

Do you know if they sorted it then? Was hoping to jump on later

Just did a replay for youtube and about halfway through I realised I'd bought 2x Mercury's Treads lol I must have double clicked a bit too much and just not realised, only spotted it in the replay xD

All I can say is that you are playing Irelia wrong. There is very few things in the game right now that can beat an Irelia in lane, she's easily one of the best, if not *the* best, bruiser in the game right now.

AD + Support beats double Stun bottom, it has to otherwise no-one would bother running it. AD + Support beats pretty much everything tbh, which is why you counter it with AD + Support and is one of the reasons that aspect of the game is so stable.

People through around the word meta so much these days it's almost lost all meaning. What people really mean when they say we follow the meta is "We play what works". While you are completely free to do radically different if you like, you *have* to compare it to what is run commonly because it's the most effective composition in the game right now. Besides, there is incredible depth of strategy within the constraints of the "meta" right now.

That doesn't make it any less boring though.

There are at least 10 different heroes you can play in each role, some of the ones you wouldnt think fit can be quite suprisingly effective. It's only boring if you play boring.

I forgot how fun Veigar was! Getting 90 AP before even getting any items and just nuking people with his combo.. Didn't realise his Q increase his AP more than 1 everytime you level it (Was that changed in a patch, as I remember it only being 1 AP per kill and now it levels with it)
