yeah go through all that, then in game 30 odd seconds between map changes and 20 seconds to deploy at the start of the game, ok give everyone chance to get ready but 50 seconds ?
 
I like a lot it but....

It really is a slightly better (graphically) version of BC2 as I predicted. in some respects its actually worse.. Squad management and the chat interface/Ui. This makes it so much more like a disorganised TDM because no one can communicate properly.

The maps -
Caspian and Tehran - unplayable really total lag-fest.
Seine and Bazaar and Metro. SPAM fests: Mortar, grenade or RPG/AT - Choke points that are so choked its carnage. The Mine map is retarded on any mode but rush.
other maps are all fairly decent/playable

Infantry hit reg bullet damage is still random and inconsistent. Same as Beta or worse, I've lost count of the deaths ive had around a corner or the classic 1 hit insta kill server slay.

Vehicle fights work well- i like the new damage system. Im not sure about the Jets managing to regain control after being disabled... i find it very hard to kill a decent pilot with in an AA vehicle. Crap ones die - then moan about it.

Either spotting is Broken/sketchy or no one is doing it. i've raged so many times i just get a Micro UAV out and just try to spot.

The worst thing about BF3 are some of the players.. Complete and utter retardation and ZERO situational awareness. Ive watched 5 or 6 people walk into the same Mgers line of fire and not even react or shoot back, knowing full well what they are doing, they all watched the previous guy try too. Yet when i do it i kill him and the other 2 guys backing him up with ease... People crowding on top of each other, no clue.

Holding out for a golden patch that fixes loads of my little annoyances and the major lag.
 
Can't believe how much I hate Caspian Border.

Can't move without being shot in the back, shot by a camper on a rock, shot by a tank.

The only way I can stay alive is by camping at one unused flag and hiding all round.
 
I have no issues launching from Origin. It starts when I boot anyway, and I can open Firefox, find a server, and be loading in within about 20-30 seconds. Much faster than BF2 or any other game I've played.

I'm glad I'm not like some of you and let little things like that put me off a GOTY contender.

EDIT: That sounded a bit harsh, what I mean is that I'm fairly easy going with stuff like that :)

And it bugs the **** outta me having to replay that whole cut scene again. Something the devs should have made optional with a key press (like other games).

Same thing happened to me, I found that if you don't hit fire instantly as he comes through the door you won't shoot at all. Seemed to be a few qte's for me where if you didn't hit them at the exact time even though the prompt was still on screen they didn't work.

It also wouldn't let me unbind keys at first, I would hold esc and nothing would happen when I was in single player, in multiplayer it worked so i don't know what the hell was going on there.
 
for people using xbox controllers for copters/jets, do you have to switch something in the key bindings/settings each time you switch between m/kb and pad or can you just pick one up/drop the other and both inputs work simultaneously?
 
only sketchy thing about origin/battlelog is that when you make a party, join a server you can often end up on different teams. Oh and no queuing and being told server is swapping maps.... it should still add you.

Also you need to get an SSD if your load times are slow or its annoying you.

Mine works automatically, so guess they work simultaneously
 
I have just unboxed my new joystick and instead of practicing i am just going to jump straight on to a server and get in a jet, I have not flown one yet, or used a joystick so it should be good
 
I have a strange problem when my joystick is plugged in. I can't drive vehicles with it in becasue i press to go forward but does naff all accept wanting to go backwards so unplug the joystick and its fine, strange. Means i can't fly heli's or planes though.
 
I don't get a prompt on screen to shoot the dude at all. He just comes in and shoots me in kind of slow mo. I pressed just about every button on on the damned keyboard and mouse after the 3rd attempt. Then i gave up.
 
The drivers do nothing unfortunately. I have read more reports though that the bios update fixes the problem for most people.

I haven't done it myself though, as downclocking has sorted it for me, I don't see any noticeable difference, and I don't see any reason to run any risk whatsoever, negligible as it may be, in updating the bios right now. Maybe later on, when I can bear to be without BF3 if something does go wrong :)
