Help OcUK GD!

Its my cousins birthday soon and hes in the military. I wanna get him something that he will find find useful in Army life. (And no..I cant afford a Steyr AUG! :p)

Is a Leatherman too wimpy for a soldier? Please suggest other ideas!!

Thanx :D

Being in the military myself and speaking from valuable experience;

Get him beer.

Get him giant inflatable genitalia that he can attack his mates with.

Get him nothing useful.

If you're gonna ignore my last point and get him something he'll find useful, don't for ****'s sake get him tools. Any tools he needs he will be given, get him something he will appreciate for making him more comfortable i.e. a pair of boots (magnums are good) or some of those heat pad things.

Lol @ the first 3 points :p

Nice to get some input from someone whose in the mil, thanx for the feedback. When you say "heat pads"..do you mean pads for winter comfort...or are they meant for pain? (Sore muscles etc).

Didnt think that way about the tools. A Leatherman is tempting but Im looking at a flashlight or something but now you made me think again!

Also being army, greater comfort or making life easier are best. We get a great torch issued at the moment (and its batteries are replaced by the army), we also get leathermans.

If you want to look at exotic nice kit get a copy of soldier magazine, lots of ads in there of things he'll like.

To be honest with you, i've never met a bloke who doesn't think leathermans are bad ass. Something satisfying about showing your mates all the useless attachments you have kept in your pocket at all times, just waiting for that moment where you can save the day with your ultimate SAS grade toothpick.

So yeah, all kidding aside a leathermans wouldn't be a bad present at all.
(forget that, apparently the army gets issued those, i thought it was just us)

The heat pads I was referring to are those reusable instant things, like a packet of gel with a metal disc you click inside them. I find myself forever in envy when doing winter guard stints with people who have a half dozen of those bad boys in their pockets.

Honestly mate, there's no harm in asking him what he wants either.
