I bought a Antec Kuhler H20 620 when they were on offer the other week and have now decided to have a push/pull set up on it. I am currently using a Akasa AK-FN059 Venom Viper on my 620, which I had spare and not sure to buy another Venom Viper fan. Or ditch my viper fan and buy 2 Scythe Gentle Typhoon 120mm 1850 RPM.

Do you think it would be worth spending the extra £12 on the GT’s or do you think the viper’s will be as good?

Is it worth mixing fan's, say have the GT pushing air through the rad and the viper pulling air through or would that screw up the air flow?

These are the 2 fans’s I am looking at

I would go for the Gentle Typhoons.

And you don't want to mix fans, allways use the same make & model in push/pull.

What speed and cpu are you running and what are the temps at the moment on idle and load??

vipers.they have the same noise level at 28db full speed as the gt's.the cfm's are 83 on the viper and 58 on the gt's.not sure about static pressure on the gt's but the vipers have great static pressure. And the vipers are pwm.i don't know why the vipers never get mentioned and the everyone loves the gt's.maybe someone can explain why the gt's are much more popular than the vipers?

I found the gt's to be pretty good for heatsinks as well, cooler was a TRUE with pretty tight fin spacing. Changed them for vipers due to the pwm function, got a temp increase of 1-2c, nothing major tbh. Got some silverstone air penetrator 140's to use as case intakes, im gonna try them on my megahelims to see how they fair. The focused airflow from them certainly feels pretty good.

Don't believe manufacturers claimed figures for fans, read some reviews that actually test the fans. The GT's will create more static pressure which is what's needed to drive the air through a rad, heatsink or filter.

I have both and the GTs are much better for cpu coolers/rads. The extra static pressure is really noticeable if you place your hand on the other side of the cooler.

Apart from noiseblocker multiframes, there really aren't better fans for cooling+noise.

Static pressure>CFM for rads.

GT's don't even have good static pressure. The only reason why they're popular is because of the little amount of noise they make. The AP-15 (1850rpm model) is rated at 20Pa (which is around 2.0mmh20). There are many fans that walk all over these in terms of raw performance, i.e the Scythe S-Flex's.
