Not at all. It really is fantastic - a lot less hassle than the pan and water method. Been experimenting with it all day and it really is perfectomundo!
What the...how does that thing work!!
Very simple.....there's a tiny mini non-stick frying pan thing to hold one egg and its suspended above a heating element which heats a small amount of water which sort of steams the egg.
The plastic see-thru top holds the steam to make sure the egg is cooked all over, but lets out a small amount through a hole at the top. If you want your egg more cooked, you put in more water. Less cooked, use less water.
It sounds complicated, but its actually very, very simple to use.
Mornings are no longer a hassle anymore (I also have a George Foreman grill for my bacon!)
Put your toast in the toaster, put some boiled water in a pan (you will already have the boiled water for your morning beverage) crack the egg in and wait 3-4 mins, how could this device be any easier than that?
They should call this the "Tefal retard poacher"![]()

I want a machine that I can pour egg, bread, sausages and beans into and have it all come out the other end ready to eat.

a frying pan?
Try this out its yummy and its what i do with poached eggs:
After you break the egg into the bowl chop up a tomato into *tiny* pieces and chuck em in. If you got a boiled potato to hand slice some bits of that in as well. Sprinkle some coriander on. Dice a *little* green chilli on it (caution: dont get too happy with this ..ur doing it just to add a LITTLE kick) Salt & pepper to taste.
And poach the thing. Yum![]()
