460 vs 5830 - 1280 Res BF3 MW3

Hi all,

Doing a very low budget upgrade to my pc before I really splash out next year on a new pc and high res monitor. I am playing BF3 right now at 1280x1024 res on my current setup, on low, and its painful to say the least!

Current specs are

2180 @ 3ghz
4 GIG Ram
8800GT 512mb

I have been offered both cards in the members market for 95 for the 460, and 65 for the 5830.

Will either or both of these cards give me strong fps with semi decent settings at my res? And what is the better buy?

Yes, but you can get a gtx 460 768MB £76.79 inc VAT with 1 year warrenty thats what i would do.

Sorry missed that, do u have a maximium budget? Or give overclockers a call to see if they have any stock coming in.

around about the 100 mark... as this is really going to be a short term upgrade, planning a brand new system for feb / march next year, but for now I want to get these games playable.

Well tbh, 5830 and 460 aren't too far away in performance. At your current resolution and since you will be upgrading next year, I'd personally grab the 5830 and save the rest for the new build.

Went for the 5830, should clock to 5850 painlessly and itll do until I can splash some cash next year!
