Hi guys, well... feeling pretty frustrated at the moment. I spent around £1300 on my new system just last week, and theres a few issues which im experiencing. It feels like something just isnt right at all, its a horrible feeling!

Any help would be appriciated.

Ok here is the main components (got an overclocked bundle):

i7 2600k
Asrock Extreme 7 Gen 3
Corsair AX1200
480 GTX
128GB M4 SSD
8GB Vengence Ram
STX Soundcard

When I first went to power it on after building it, it turned off after 10 seconds, it finnaly got going but wouldn't display anything. Then tried every PCIe slot on the motherboard, nothing. After half an hour it finally came round and displayed.

Then, my Keyboard/Mouse wasn't powering up, so I could not access the Bios, when it eventually did it wasn't showing my SSD. So I tried different Sata ports, turns out 4 of them don't work!

So I went to inspect the "overclock", and its a stock speed, it was meant to be at 4.7Ghz. So it seems to have reset itself.

So finally got windows installed and i've been gaming on BF3 happly since then.

But as time goes on it feels like as I say, something isn't right. I thought i'd try see if the other PCIe slots work, well, it appears they dont?! I've put my GFX card in everyone, and windows doesnt detect it, except for the top slot. I tried it in the slot where I have my STX soundcard and it still doesnt pick it up.

Another mystery, when I first get into windows, sometimes there is no network, I click on anything internet based and it just doesn't load, avast is down aswell and I cannot do anything to turn it back on. I go to "Diagnosis problem" on the network icon and it says error. It eventually comes round and then works fine.

The retailer said they will send me the OC settings they used so I can restore that, but should I just send my bundle back and tell them to RMA the motherboard, as to me this seems to be the problem...

Sorry for the long post!

Motherboard sounds dodgy to me... especially since the sata ports or PCI slots don't work.

I've always hated Asrock. Made by Asus now apparently. Not sure if they receive the same care and attention as the Asus boards however.

P.S. Why do you need a 1200W PSU? Planning on quad SLI anytime soon?

Thanks for your response mate, ye 4 of them defintly don't work, I just find it weird that the STX is fine in the PCIe slots but when I put my 480 in anyone except the top, windows doesn't pick it up.

1200 is defintly overkill, I am planning on going SLI once I find another 480 for a good price! Also, I'm thinking about RMA'ing the PSU, its quite loud, i've heard its a problem with these. Might opt for the 850 version insted tbh.

750 would be plenty. 850 would be fine of course.

Remember the graphics card is supposed to be in the top slot. So there's really no need for it to work in the others. Although I'm not sure how that would work out having two installed.

Tried a BIOS update to try and and fix the sata ports?

I'll get in contact with the retailer about a BIOS update, as it can void my warranty with them if so.

Yes I understand that the graphics is meant to be in the top slot, but the 2nd slot is PCIe gen 3, so surely that one should work aswell?

BIOS updates wont void your warranty. Your manufacturer wouldn't release updates and update tools if you weren't supposed to do it. Would they?
