From what i've seen and heard, LOTRO is one of the more successful MMO's that has gone down the F2P path.

If you've ever played an MMO, expect a lot of the same systems implemented here, but with a LOTR twist on them.

Check out youtube for some recent reviews/lets plays, I'm sure there will be plenty there :)
 
It's a fantastic game to play with friends but it can get a bit boring by itself.

If you do start then be warned of the woeful intro quests, after that it's good :)
 
I still play it and will for some time to come, especially with the release of Isengard.

If you're playing on Evernight, then look out for the Guardians of Middle-Earth, also affectionately known as the Gnomes. It's the kin I'm in & they're a real good rabble.

Still play it when i have the time, usually weekends and half-terms as they're the times i'm not at work.

I'm on Snowbourn with:

-Elf Warden.
-Man Captain.
-Hobbit Burglar.
-Dwarf Runekeeper.

I started trying it out but the starting quests put me off! Will give it another go, thanks!
 
Been playing the game for four years, gone abit downhill now turbine runs the EU servers aswell but i cannot fault the game i love it. Ive tried many other mmo's but this is the only one ive stuck with.

Its a very good game always was, got new owners about a year or so back, thats why its went F2P, they bought it to turn it to F2P part of their bigger strategy I believe, forget who they are now but they own most of the rights now to lord of the rings or Tolkien ...
 
Hadn't logged on in AGES (I have a lifetime sub) until the other week, and I'd forgotted how excellent an MMO this is. Ended up stuck on it for hours yet again.

I reckon I'll dive back in at Christmas and try to FINALLY make it to Moria!
 
I've been playing a lot again recently too. My highest toon is still only 62, so have a lot of new content to see.

I'm almost embarrassed playing my minstrel these days. He just has to scream and stuff falls down dead all around him :D
