So says a report commissioned by the energy firm behind the exploration on the Fylde coast. So what now? Do we say we'll just have to take the risk of future earthquakes, will the fracking companies take liability for the damage of any future earthquake? Do we just give up and live with ever increasing gas prices? The report also says future earthquakes are unlikely to happen again in future, is that good enough?

In my uneducated, internet, armchair expert opinion, we should just do it. Or at the very least investigate the strength of these tremors. I mean a 2.3 is nothing in terms of earthquakes.

I'd rather a few windows/tiles get broken and paid for by the company if it provides the U.K as a whole with secure energy production capabilities for the future.

If further earthquakes are unlikely, then a sensible risk assessment would suggest that it should proceed, subject to suitable indemnity in case of further quakes that cause damage.

It shouldn't be a show stopper, but it might impact the viability depending on indemnity costs.

If they are unlikely to occur or be very small then I can't see the harm of carrying on. Frack On......

Six protesters from campaign group Frack Off climbed a drilling rig at one of Cuadrilla's test drilling sites in Hesketh Bank, near Southport, ahead of the report.

I bloody hate people like that. Don't these hippie ***** seriously have nothing better to do?

I say go for it. It's only Blackpool afterall. :p

It is amazing that people would feel so strongly about something that isn't really that big a deal and that most people are not even interested in that they not only set up a campaign group but they dedicate vast amounts of time to it.

I mean.. why? What are the REAL reasons for these people protesting against pretty much everything?

There is almost zero possibility of this causing anything like a serious Earthquake...

We want lower energy bills, but we don't want Fracking? Well Frack off public, you can't have both! TOUGH!

We could easily have lower energy bills! The companies make a huge profit per house hold. And they have more than enough to sustain their business and wages + whatever they need to pay for wholesale energy.

As a former Fylde Coast resident (parents still live there) it's not the earthquakes I'm worried about. It's the other dangers, i.e contamination of the water supply*

*my knowledge on this entire subject is limited at best.
