Battlefield 3 - Massive input delay

Please help :o

I'm getting a lot of input delay. When standing still and moving the mouse, it feels like it's picking up the movement at random intervals. The problem is exasperated when I try moving (WASD) and using the mouse at the same time. Sometimes even the keyboard presents a delay. I have tried a few things, like turning all graphics to low, clearing all joystick keys, changing mouse sensitivity/raw mode.

My FPS is stable at 30-45 (even whilst the delay is going on). CPU and GPU usage looks fine to me (70-100%). Memory use is also fine and not going over my limit. Temps are fine.

No other games present this issue (not even BFBC2).

I love using the MAV. Really enjoy supporting my squad mates as the "eye in the sky". But am I missing something? How are you getting kills with it??

If you can build up enough speed, you can effectively road kill enimes if your aiming for their head, its hard at first but if you get the hang of it, its really usefull. Saved lots of people by killing an emplaced MG gunner or a mortar guy whos miles away useing the UAV.

T anyone struggling to unlock jet perks, what i did was srch practice (someone else posted this idea 1st) and i got a list of flying practice, joined an empty one and spent a good while just getting used to flying, then someone else joined who wanted to learn also and we traded 3 kills each to unlock the perks.

Was on one the OcUK servers last night, not sure which, and there was an insanely good little bee (i think thats the name) pilot continually ducking behind buildings, he could put that thing anywhere at speed was impressive to watch!

Tried a bit of flying today with my old PS dual shock type gamepad. It didn't go very well.

Not quite sure what the recommended controller map is but it just doesn't seem intuitive to me, having never really played flying games on PC or Playstation.

What's the best way to control apart from Joystick? Is mouse control good enough for competitive flying? Every time I try with the mouse I seem to crash and burn.

It's very difficult to play on an empty server isn't it. Most have the stupid minimum player value set at 8 or something and the practise flying servers seem to have experienced flyers preying on noobs.

Bah.

I want to unlock everything eventually and part of it is flying so..

They aren't as quick as the jets, granted, but they can be quick if piloted correctly.

I am loving the attack chopper, me flying with stingers, mate on voip and in the gunner position with air to ground missiles, both with flares.

Coordinated attacks and flare deployment, coupled with my awesome low flying skills :D means we decimate enemy air and armor.

Good set up, me and a friend do something very similar, but rather than two lots of flares I have the fire extinguisher as the pilot, so you can still drop flares when needed but makes you much more hardy to ground fire and jet/helicopters. If you haven't used it the fire extinguisher INSTANTLY brings the vehicle health back to 53% from any value below that and makes it flyable again. Saved my butt no end of times :D

I had the same problem. Just ended all unnecessary processes in task manager until I found the culprit. Might be worth trying.

I swear by mouse and keyboard, seem to suit me very well for both jets and choppers.

I actually unlocked the fire extinguisher last night :) I think we are gonna add it into our load out tonight!

Is there such thing as an empty server on BF3 atm guys?

I prefer games with 7/8 players to get used to the game otherwise you just die before you can get to grips with things.

Anyone playing this with a 360 gamepad? Ok ok, don't go all commando on me and say kb + mouse *** F .T . W...

I'm playing the single player campaign on my trusty laptop on my 42" tv for some large screen battlefield 3 fun, better then consoles in the gfx thats for sure, but oh my oh my.. gamepad controls are well hit n miss.

graphically, even on my laptop this game is drool worthy, impressive and well optimised and massive fun even in single player.

However in single player, when for example a prompt pops up saying press space, or press space a number of times, it doesn't actually work for say button 3 on my gamepad.. lol its crazy as button three then works without a prompt, say it says press X at the scene when you try and defuse the bomb, a guy jumps you and it says press LMB and then X to beat the guy up..

doesn't work when I press trigger 2 or button 4 on my gamepad, yet trigger 2 fires my gun like it was LMB etc... Its just crazy, can't work this out... Its meaning I have to have a keyboard next to me when playing the game, otherwise I can't progress...

At this rate going to just end up playing the entire game with mouse and keyboard anyhow, but purpose of me large screen gaming is to sit back and enjoy with a gamepad.. oh well, game is still bloody good. F18 scenes are just soooo real looking, blew my mind.

If only an XBox controller was THE way to play FPSs. Kick back on the sofa with a beer and 5.1 through an AV amp...much better than being bolt upright at a desk.

Well. Its ok for single player kick backs in the living room. Online i'll revert back to kb + mouse as I'd be 100% totally owned tying to complete with an xbox controller lol

Seems the 360 controller support in this game is a bit hit n miss, still better then nothing, least I can 'almost' kick back on the sofa with a beer and controller...

I play exclusively on xbox controller and much prefer it to M/KB. Im still a very average player. I dont think the gamepad makes any difference to how many points you can rack up in a game, but undoubtedly a proficient m+kb player will have a better K/D ratio.

I have decided to take a break from BF3 now. Will revisit after a few days when my eyes have gone round again.

Running firefox as your web browser? I've got an app that allows firefox to launch as an app, meaning the footprint for firefox is a lot less, apparently few users sufferin as you need an open web browser to play.. erm.. !!

Google firefox app plugin

battlelog page halfway down on the left side theres a button. it's called live chat, you can either go through he normal idiot aproach of letting the support staff (if your very lucky a dice dev) try and find you a soulution or you can demand your money back as you cant play the game.

You've said two entirely different things there old chum.

Was a tad Contradictory, been proven that even a less proficient kb + mouse gamer going against a very good gamepad player in the same game, same platform, same performance and hardware will mostly get fairly owned against the kb + mouse player.

However, gamepad is certainly nice for those lazy kickbacks whilst playing a game after a long day at work, nothing better then enjoying a bit of single player action on the sofa…
