Kids TV - beyond disturbing

My son has recently started going nuts over Justins House. Thank goodness for on demand from Virgin Media is all I can say.

Chuggington is where it is at and Everythings Rosie. tbh.

My 3 month old settles down already if we put it on. It's amazing the effect Teletubbies and In the Night Garden have.

Absolutely. When our daugher was that age, and a bit older, in the night garden was a great wind down. So much so, that when I lay on the sofa with her, it rendered me unconscious too!

The amount of new crap broadcast is alarming. "Rastamouse" being the latest attempt at politically correct broadcasting, when in fact, it's crap! TV off when that or other Rubbish comes on.

Now, to a more pressing question....Kerry, ja oder nein? But Katie, now there's a pasty that needs smashing!

It's so nice to see how many kids let tv bring up their kids.

Much of the daft stuff on TV bored me to tears as a kid, and seeing whats on now compared to back then, its embarrassing and not remotely surprising that people are getting stupider.

IF all kids do is watch generic rubbish on tv, where will they learn to be creative. Kids should be playing, communicating, making up their own games, reading, learning, not turning their brains off during their fastest developmental years.

Think about it, during the years your kids learn and absorb everything, they literally set their brains to think a certain way, the crap TV teaches your children, and the brain dead, lack of concentration, lack of creativity involved with watching other peoples creations is how you want your kids brains to think?

Lets put it this way, I sincerely doubt many, if any of the worlds greatest musicians, poets, writers, mathematicians, historians, artists, economists spent hours watching crap kids tv......... while your local take away workers probably did.

So you assume that because our kids watch any TV at all, they must be watching it all the time?

What about you, the world's greatest logician?

My two-year-old watches CBeebies and doesn't seem to be destined for a career flipping burgers. In fact, she knows things that are technically years ahead of her and we don't push her at all. And it has to be said that some of the things she knows is directly down to watching some TV: especially things that can't be taught through talking or book reading.

But of course, Drunkenmaster, you know our kids better than we do!

Some great kids programs about. My daughter loves them and learns from them too. I dont let her watch nasty cartoons! She is only 5.

Much the same as my boy, he loves watching some tv, particularly Thomas the tank engine, waybuloo and peppa pig, yet he talks exceptionally well for a 2 year old, loves playing inside and out and (typically for a 2 year old) won't sit still for a minute. 30 mins of Tv a day is not going to condemn him to a life of 'sainsbury's toilet cleaner'. However it will keep him occupied so that when making dinner, it keeps him away from the kitchen and the hot oven/hobs

So quite frankly for all those that dont have children (and its blatantly obvious who you are) get off your high horse and jog on - I guarantee you will change your tune when you have kids of your own.

I was watching Dora the Explorer the other day, round families house, and it hooked me. Curse that little spanish girl and her troubles

Quoted for Truthiness.

Macca Pacca is a total legend, don't know how they thought of him. He seems to have OCD about cleaning things. I always laugh at how he obsessively cleans stones.

My kids like In The Night Garden, Mr Tumble, that cooking program but they just can't get enough of Spongebob. I love it myself. Thankfully they are starting to like Tom and Jerry aswell.

As I agree Rastamouse is absolutely ****. So is Waybuloo.

Bits and Bobs was awful, too. Also, Me Too and Balamory are one step away from Royston Vasey if you ask me!

Is it wrong that I'm actually looking forward to the CBeebies panto this year?!

When I was over in Norway a while back some of the guys I was staying with showed me one of their kids TV programs. It was called Pompell and Pilt and it was one of the weirdest most disturbing things I've ever seem!
